I can’t give the food any stars because after being at our table for an hour and a half we never received our food. It took 20 minutes to receive menus, -another 20 for a server to ask if we wanted drinks and another 15 to receive said drinks. We proceeded to wait again for the server to come back to see if we had made up our minds for meals- ummmm yup an hour worth of staring at your menu was more than enough time to make up our mind. The manager was rude. He basically forced us to take outdoor seating on a day that was exceptionally windy, chilly and forecasted for rain. Guess what- it started to rain. We asked to move inside but were told no. However he did seat another party with the same amount of guests inside as well as other tables. He told our party there is nothing they can do about Mother Nature. After an hour and a half with no food and steady rain we gave up and left.I can’t see this being a long lasting spot in Providence based on this visit. If zero stars was an option that would be my review.

I had high expectations for this place given all of the positive reviews but the experience was disappointing. Food was poor quality, lacked flavor and was not appetizing for the price. My margarita was way too strong.

First time dining here. The location and atmosphere are nice. It’s right along the Providence River along the Waterfire route. I’ve walked by it numerous times during Waterfire event nights. It’s jammed packed on those nights. It was not crowded but definitely plenty of diners. Good date night spot for sure bc there’s plenty of walking that can be done before and after dining. My friend and I ordered the shrimp and scallops and substituted mashed potatoes instead of rice. There was a good amount of shrimp and scallops which we got well done per our request. Those were quite tasty. The potatoes were chock full of skin, not what I was expecting. I prefer smooth buttery potatoes. We added salt to the potatoes for more flavor. They were just ok for me. Overall my dish was filling! No leftovers. Another friend ordered the swordfish and thought the creamy sauce on it tasted cheesy and detracted from the grilled swordfish. We were told our dishes came with vegetables of the day- which included asparagus but there was no asparagus. I enjoyed the broccoli and cauliflower. The chocolate cherry martini got high marks, my margarita with a splash of OJ was too strong for me- I had it diluted a bit, it was a miss for me but others might really love it. One friend ordered a mock mojito and she said it was not that good- neither of us finished our drinks. The desserts were a perfect size and very good! Our waitress was friendly and attentive. There was a variety of pop music playing at a good volume (not too loud- we didn’t have a problem hearing each other). Seemed like a radio station (it wasn’t), not a hot playlist that gets you in the spirit of the weekend. Some Afrobeats or old school R&B would have been perfect.Parking: Allow time to find parking. There’s limited street parking. There’s the Prov Place Mall parking and over by Cafe Nuovo.

The food and atmosphere was excellent!! The quality of food was extremely fresh. Our only issue was there was soooo much we wanted to eat, we will have to make several trips to try them all!! It’s worth the trip portions were great!! We will ABSOLUTELY be back! And you will NOT be disappointed.

Very nice place along the river, not very big. Parking is hard to find. Service was very spotty as two of the wait staff didn't show. The only server did the best she could under the conditions. Our party of 6 asked for separate checks, but we were presented with 2 identical bills at half price which we were left to dissect. That was very unprofessional. Overall good!Parking: We paid $20 for valet parking to the restaurant above the bistro. The valet said he'd do us a favor, but wasn't supposed to accept cars of non patrons.

I participated in the first event of cooking with Chef Stefan. Very nice and friendly environment. Great location with a view of the water. Can't wait till summer when you can dine outside over by the water. Looking forward to trying the rest of menu. Chef Stefan is fun, exciting, enthusiastic and great teacher.

I visited The River Bistro and was truly impressed with its prime location, delightful food offerings, and an impressive variety of drinks. The combination of a great setting and exceptional culinary and beverage choices makes it a standout destination. Highly recommended!

Awful service and a disgusting, vile owner (or manager) who thinks it’s okay to be rude to customers for any reason! Imagine how bad of a person you have to be to behave that way to people in general … nevermind while running a business. Do not go here, do not give awful people your business!

We arrived with a reservation to the restaurant. We sat down and were told to find the reservation in 5 minutes or we would have to leave the table and the restaurant. I have never been so embarrassed in my life. Come to find out it was in my junk mail. On the way out I told the head waiter we would not be back and he said ok. Really is that ok. We ate dinner elsewhere and were very happy not sitting on top of people The only reason I went there was because a friend of mine recommended this place. That was not the case tonight and I will be sure to tell everyone how I was treated. By the way your information does not say reservations required. I was very upset by what happened tonight. There is no reason for anyone to be spoken to in such a harsh manner.
