We had a great experience! The owner was so helpful with our food decisions and extraordinarily kind! The food was delicious and the vibes were very laid back - a great place to catch up with friends and try some new food. We had the jollof rice, puff puff, stew with the pounded yam, and ginger tea - all so tasty! And couldn’t ask for better service

Not sure why someone would give this place 1 star. Found it by accident. Service was fantastic, food was even better! Just got chicken and rice, and the flavors were amazing. Was the best part of my night honestly.

Our 1st time here, customer service was great! Super friendly, explained a few dishes, everything we had was very good. Had beef with red stew and okra with rounded yam and it was great. We ate it all, the beef was so tender. We also tried the rice and plantain which was a good side dish. Just spicy enough for me and the plantain was fried just enough. We will visit again.

The pictures on Google aren’t what the place looks like. The door to them entrance says citizens bank. The Jollof rice was fire and that’s about it. The place is dull. I’d go back for the rice but everything else was under seasoned.

Spent around $60 on two plates. The food ended up being cold and she put it in the microwave. The food did not taste great and wasn’t worth the money at

Food was gross. My daughter and her boyfriend had to endure this nasty placeCharged her extra for food and didn't give it to her.

The only issue with food was it was slightly warm. The temperature of the food was like when you microwave food and forget about it.The flavor was good just wasn't warm enough. Our server allowed us to try a few samples because it was my first time trying Nigerian food. I will give them a second chance.

This location of Village PVD is at 100 Fountain St, Providence, RI 02903. The entrance is thru the Citizens Bank door and Village PVD is on the left. I came here at noon on a Friday and it wasn't busy inside, but orders were being placed via grub hub/seamless/doordash. The computer kept on dinging. It was my first time having Nigerian food and the man behind the counter was very patient in explaining the different options. I had the jollof rice which is cooked in flavorful tomatoes and pepper sauce and comes with a choice of plantain or spinach and a choice of meat. I chose the spinach and beef. The beef was very tender. My husband had the Jollof rice with plantain and filet fish. We also had a meat pie which was a savory pastry with beef filling. He asked if I wanted it to be warmed and I said yes. The portions were a good size, but a little pricy. The jollof rice meal was $17.00 and the meat pie was $4.00. I took my order to go, but there are tables with plenty of seating inside. The flavors were very good and I am looking forward to trying Nigerian food again.

The service was top notch, I was honored to be served by the owner.I had Pounded Yam(not poundo), Egusi Soup and Fish. The seasoning was just right, and if you felt it was not seasoned enough they were nice enough to provide extra. The setting was perfect giving the rich blend of plants around, and the over head speaking playing top 100Nigerian songs. It gives a warm feel like I was home. The staff was wonderful!I would definitely come back, with my friends. If you’re Nigerian, or you want to try mouth watering Nigerian food and you’re in the Great American State of Rhode Island the Ocean State, you definitely want to go there.Kid-friendliness: The ambiance is okay to have your kids in, the sitting can be adjusted for kids and they have a high stool for younger kids.

I used to work with Nigerians who would make some really excellent Nigerian food. I left that job and was really hoping the Village would fulfill my Nigerian food cravings. Sadly, it did not. While the restaurant is beautiful and the staff are friendly the food is just not up to par. We have been there on numerous occasions and have had great interactions with the staff but the food is consistently dry. I'm not sure if the proteins have been sitting on the hot plates for too long but on numerous occasions they've been very hard to chew. I love fried plantains but these have been exceptionally oily and way too sweet. The rice is good but lacks flavor and heat. It would be great to see some veggies in the rice going forward. It also depends on who's working as to how big the portion sizes are and for the price it can often be not worth it. I will say that the red sauce is good though. Overall, this restaurant earned a two for the consistently nice staff and atmosphere but I can't give anything higher due to the lackluster food.

Read on Reddit and someone recommended this place. Unfortunately, the lunch experience that I had was below unacceptable. There was a lunch special for $10 plus tax & tip which was rice, choice of bean, chicken and drink. The food was sitting and didn't look fresh but I went ahead. Attach is the photo of the very small amount of food packaged for lunch. Given was 1 small chicken leg which was not fresh and hard. Rice was salty and oily. Have eaten in different places and sad to say I couldn't recommend this place.
