Absolutely rudest employee making sushi. The attitude of disrespect was unnecessary. Grocery store sushi don’t recommend.

Formally a Newport sushi restaurant that moved into Belmont Market. Definitely the best supermarket sushi when you want to satisfy that craving without having to go through the hassle of sitting down at a restaurant.I have yet to encounter this rude man everyone speaks of but I suspect he’s probably a nice guy with a rough delivery of words ?I’ve only had to wait 40 min once bc I put the order in while at the store but it sounds like it’s a thing. So just call way ahead for the special rolls. Definitely worth it for the Blackship and Shrimp Tempura Rolls.

Will no longer be coming here. You’re only allowed to take 2 items from the to-go case, so as a family of 4 this obviously doesn’t work for us. The first 2 times we called ahead, it took an hour for our 4 rolls to be made. Today, it took an hour and a half! The half hour my husband stood there waiting for our food with our 4-year-old, he watched as she made other rolls simultaneously to restock the case rather than get us our food first so they could leave. Unacceptable. And the man (owner?) is extremely snappy and rude.If you like waiting over an hour for your food while looking at a pre made case of sushi sitting there that you’re not allowed to buy because you want to buy too much of it (?!?!), then this is totally your place.

Sorry, but this sushi spot has rubbed me the wrong way for the last time. Will be getting our sushi elsewhere from now on. It's in the corner of Belmont Market...has a small case in the front and then you can also order there or call ahead. You're only allowed to take 2 items from the to-go case at a time. My husband didn't realize this, and got snapped at by the owner for trying to buy more. We're a family of four so of course that doesn't work for us. So we ordered ahead the next time. 4 rolls took over an hour for them to make. Ridiculous. So my husband and I would tag-team...he'd go in for 2 boxes from the case and I'd go in after for 2 more. The second time we needed to order ahead, it also took an hour, but we were prepared that time and waited the full hour before going to the store to pick it up. But today? My husband went in an hour after he placed our order (4 rolls and a container of edamame) and not only wasn't it ready yet, it took an additional half hour to finish the order! My husband was standing there with our 4-year-old, waiting, and the woman making the rolls was not only making our order, but when she said "I just have to make your Philadelphia roll" she made 3 of them at once and packaged them all up and put the 2 extra in the case rather than fill our order so we could get out of there and feed our kids lunch. Come ON. Completely unacceptable. And the owner is rude. I don't know how they get away with it all. Kabuki, here we come with all our future sushi business! They're right down the road at 91 Old Tower Hill and their number is (401) 788-0777

The sushi here is wonderful. The staff who takes orders over the phone is very rude. I was ordering a pretty good sized order for a small gathering outdoors and in between each item the man on the phone sighed in a disgruntled way likeI was really putting him out. I have experienced this on more than one occasion and it should be addressed. My daughter just told me she doesn't order sushi there anymore for the same reason.

The rolls were lots of rice and little tiny pieces of fish, disappointing... would not order from there again. However, the market looks like a worthwhile shopping experience, and all the employees were friendly and helpful.

This is a wonderful little place to get sushi in the back right corner of the Belmont Market. I won't say it's the best sushi I ever had, but it was still very good and well worth the price. You can grab some premade rolls or ask them to make some (which only took 10-15 minutes). They also have a unique assortment of rolls with either Asian pear or mango inside (also good). I wouldn't travel long distance to get their sushi, but I would go frequently if I lived closer.

well I do shop in Belmont and never realized they had a Sushi spot inside at the end of the Deli section. We do like Sushi every once in a while. I did get some to take home and it was a surprise that it was as good as it was. I did not that the Sushi was being made in house by people who really know what they are doing. I had the California rolls and they were outstanding. The rice was great and so was the filling. These were really fresh, well made and tasted just right. much better than the local chinese or Japanese restaurants as they seem to sit around and get mushy and are not made as well as the ones in Belmont...You will like them as well.If you like you can purchase them and then eat them in back where they have a nice clean small area with tables. not a restaurant but a nice Super Market.

Owner Jefferson Dube is half Japanese and that certainly is evident in his delicious and always-fresh offerings. Nothing is carried overnight and you can save 50% by purchasing from 8-9pm. His sushi was voted Best of R.I. by readers of R.I. Monthly magazine. It has my vote! If you love sushi, sashimi and an entire menu of delicious offerings, run, don't walk!

THIS IS NOT A RESTAURANT! This is only part of Belmont Market. People are welcome to use their small dining section next to the bakery after purchase. This sushi bar comes with different Japanese appetizers such as, edamame, cold noodles etc. I love getting hand rolls from here. It's also a cheaper option if it's only one person eating since they make the hand rolls a dollar less than the maki's. It is very filling! I would have to say that this place has the freshest sushi in South County compared to Dragon Palace, New Dragon and Kabuki Cuisine. The people behind the sushi counter are willing to customize your order. They also have an online menu through their website. Would definitely come back again!
