Just moved close to westerly and was told I had to try this place before it shuts down. I did and will be sad to see it go. Food was good and the beer on the side hit the spot. Most crowded place in the area so doesn't make sense for it to close but guess they have their reasons. Overall glad I checked it out.

The Malted Barley has become a favorite lunch spot for our extended family to partake of when we are in town once a year or so to visit part of the family who lives in South Kingstown. The sandwiches are unique and delicious and are our go-to stop when visiting Waverly, along with the bookstore just around the corner.

The Malted Barley is a cozy fun place with a unique menu and large variety of craft beer.Went with three friends on a Sunday midafternoon for beer flights and stuffed pretzels (though I had a glass of wine). The restrooms are unisex with a lot of carved graffiti on the walls. Some of the comments were a bit racy but most were amusing. We ordered our drinks and a jalapeño cheddar stuffed pretzel and a Thanksgiving pretzel. The second one was filled with stuffing and turkey, cranberry sauce and gravy on the side for dipping. Both pretzels were delicious and had a nice crispy crunch (almost over cooked but still good). We'll be back and try their other stuffed pretzels, sandwiches and salads.

I've been to their location in Providence many times. I was in the area and was craving a beer and a pretzel-- there's no better place for that! Beer selection is great, service was solid, vibe is chill. You won't find a vast food menu here. It's pretty straight forward: a variety pretzels with a selection of dipping sauces from savory to sweet. They also have some sandwiches where the pretzel is the bun. Overall a good spot!

This place is a local gem. Good vibes, great food and drinks, and convenient location. Service was quick and super friendly. I love that they offer all beers in a 4oz serving as I usually never finish a full beer - just enough to get a taste! And the pretzels are next level. Highly recommend and will be sure to stop in whenever I'm in town!

I have always heard about The Malted Barley but had never been before so my husband & I decided to give it a try. Very cute inside, staff was very nice & the prices were very reasonable. I'm not beer drinker but my husband likes to try new beers & they have a lot of IPA's & microbrews. We both had a pretzel which are homemade & hand rolled to order. I had the salted pretzel with beer cheese & he had Asiago Parmesan pretzel with beer cheese. I didn't think mine had much flavor at all & the beer cheese didn't either. My husband's pretzel had a little more flavor than mine. Not really my type of pretzel. I like a nice big fat doughy pretzel & beer cheese with more flavor. It did have a nice atmosphere & a wide selection of salads & sandwiches to choose from as well as all day egg sandwiches. More of a place to stop for a few beers than food in my opinion but a nice little spot.

You need to read the rest of the one star reviews... That says it all... Rude, pushy, slow are some key words. Go to the CAFE that just opened instead. It's a 2 minute walk.

Awesome place! I would highly recommend The Malted Barley. We are gluten free and they have tons of options for us! We got a tasting of the ciders and some cocktails as well as a gluten free pretzel! The cocktails were okay but it’s more of a beer place anyway.Gluten free pretzel was delicious! Not the same as a regular pretzel obviously but it was still excellent and our server was delightful. I didn’t catch her name but she had such a cute snake tattoo on her finger. All in all I can’t wait to come back to try what they have on draft next and get more gluten free goodness ?

We had a keg of pumpkin beer and it was delicious. We have been there so many times and never sat downstairs but it is beautiful with the patio and shuffleboard.

Nice beer selection ! The pretzels are great and they offer breakfast sandwiches all day. Family friendly but I wouldn't bring kids here after 6pm since it gets busy with young adults.

I’ve been to the providence location many times and had such a good experience. This location was so disappointing. Our server only had one table (which was us) and was standing and talking doing nothing the whole time. She never asked us for refills or if we wanted more drinks and only checked on us once before handing us off to another server who also didn’t come to check on us. We had empty glasses for the majority of the meal. Between the time we asked for the check and when we got cashed out we were waiting for over 20 minutes. Spending a total of 2 hours here with one round of waters, a beer flight and food for everyone. On the bright side the food was really good. Everything was super flavorful. But that didn’t take away from us being ignored the whole time we were there.

It's always an amazing experience to head downtown and visit the Barely. The food and drinks are exceptional and the atmosphere is always fun!

Everything pretzel! They bake them fresh so it's not fast food. But it's super delicious!!!
