This place is nicely decorated, the staff is friendly, and their food is so much better than typical Mexican restaurants. I’ve tried quite a few others in Anderson, and there is no comparison. Their chunky guacamole dip is made FRESH when you order it, and it’s out of this world. I can’t tell you how much I enjoy eating here. This is in my top two of all Mexican restaurants I’ve been to around the country. Their Pollo con Crema ( tender chicken pieces in a cream sauce with mild cooked poblanos and onions) is SO GOOD. It comes with flour tortillas, and I get black beans and a guacamole salad as my sides with it. I often can make two meals of that one meal, unless I’m really hungry.

My family has been eating at Taqueria Picante for years and we love it! On our first visit I had the Pollo Con Crema and I was hooked. The salsa bar has a great variety of salsa, Pico, and pickled vegetables; my favorite is the chipotle salsa - just the right blend of heat and flavor. I travel to Mexico a lot and they have many authentic dishes in addition to the typical Tex-Mex. We know most of the staff by name. Definitely the best in the area!

We’ve been going here for years. Usually great food. Last two times not so good. Yesterday I ordered a chicken tamale, I got a chicken enchilada. I told our server about it and he argued about what I ordered. The other person at my table even said I ordered the tamale. So reluctantly brought me a tamale. All it contained was masa and some Peppers. Not one morsel of chicken. I played around with it on my plate. Ate 3 bites. We didn’t see our server again for almost 30 minutes. I ask for the check and left.

This place is absolutely amazing! It's one of those restaurants that are hidden, and when you walk in and experience the friendly atmosphere you feel at home. I can't tell you how amazing the food is as well! I had the California burrito and was blown away by how delicious it was!

I use to really like this place but recently it’s been sadly poor customer service. Not sure if it’s new management but before the customer came first.
Absolutely amazing service and even better food so glad that I came to this fantastic restaurant

It is a shame that this place is not in a more prominent location. You kinda have to go looking for it. I would say that this is one of the best authentic Mexican food restaurants in town. Give it a try.
