A Diamond in the Rough: This BBQ Joint is Pure GoldSo, there I was, standing in front of a place that, honestly, looked like it had seen better days. The exterior was nothing to write home about, and you'd be forgiven for thinking twice before stepping in. But, oh boy, am I glad I did.Let's talk about what matters most: the food. We kicked things off with ribs--both fried and grilled, because why not live a little? I wasn't prepared for the culinary rollercoaster that ensued. These ribs weren't just good; they were the kind of delicious that makes you pause, close your eyes, and take a moment to appreciate the flavors dancing around your palate. The chef behind these masterpieces? A wizard, no less. Then there was the pulled pork. Imagine the tenderest, most flavorful pork you've ever had, then multiply that by ten. That's what we got. It was the kind of dish that makes you wonder if you've ever really tasted pulled pork before this moment. The sides? Far from mere fillers, they were a delight in their own right. The Mac and Cheese was a creamy, dreamy concoction that felt like a warm hug. And the baked beans--let's just say they were not your ordinary, run-of-the-mill side dish. They had a depth and richness that spoke of hours of careful cooking and a secret recipe passed down through generations. Now, about that BBQ sauce--it didn't just accompany the dishes; it elevated them. It was tangy, it was sweet, it had a kick--it was everything you could ever ask for in a BBQ sauce and then some. Saying it "slaps" might be understating it; this sauce was a symphony in a bottle. And here's a little insider tip: keep an eye out for the red light. If it's on, it means the ribs are fresh off the grill, and you're in for a treat that's straight-up BBQ magic.Walking into this place, I wasn't sure what to expect. But walking out, I was already planning my next visit. This BBQ joint, with its unassuming exterior and culinary wonders, is a reminder that the best treasures are often hidden in plain sight. It's a place of contradictions--modest yet magnificent, simple yet extraordinary. So if you ever find yourself standing in front of this humble eatery, wondering if you should go in, do yourself a favor and step through that door. There's a world of flavors waiting for you inside, served up by a chef who knows their craft inside out. Trust me, you don't want to miss out on this.

The ribs are always so good! While the sauce is different, the ribs are the closest thing I’ve found to the original dreamland BBQ in alabama. I highly recommend the grilled ribs

Excellent food and great service! We have always gotten our food to go, and the online ordering is seamless. Food is always ready when promised. They have an outside covered area that looks like a nice place for a group...I've seen a couple of what appear to be private parties there. Not sure if it is open all the time to take your food out there, but would be fun if so. Unassuming place, but the food and people make it a winner!

This place is awesome! The BBQ is delicious and the fried ribs are unlike anything I've had before. Be sure to try the loaded fries and be sure to speak to the owner. He's also the chef and he's great

Did a drop in I was hungry and wanted some food. A very nice young lady told me about the special, so I ordered the pulled pork red rice potato salad. My next order was fish, mac and cheese and coleslaw. Both dinners tasted so good I was tasting them while driving home. I definitely will be going back, great idea for my work lunches. Highly recommend if you want some great yummy food.

Today driving back from Beaufort we didn't pass any BBQ places open between Ravenel or Mt Pleasant, (Sunday or too early) we had basically given up and drove past this place in Awendaw. We whipped the car around and headed back a block or two. Glad we did- We were early but they were open- Had no idea what to expect but damn! it was good- BBQ sandwhich, 1/2 rack of meaty ribs, slaw, fries and fried okra everything was excellent. Even though your sitting under a huge pavillion they had plenty of tvs and some great jazzy music playing. Relaxing- had a another customer approach us and ask if it was good or not before he ordered. Told him it was our first time but the smells were great. He and his wife ordered as well. We got our order and looked over at him after a few bites and said- " you wont be disappointed" after he got his order a few minutes later a bite or two into it he looked over at us and smiled, "it's good!" We will definitely be back-
