We loved the previous Taco Boy menu. The new one doesn't have tofu as a protein choice or fried avocado taco with sweet chili sauce. The delicious Mexican street corn isn't on the menu now but the server said we could still order it. Why remove it then?? Please add the favorites back so we can enjoy Taco Boy again!! ?

The decor was neat. Nice that they had a parking lot. Quesadillas are huge. A bit too much cilantro for my taste. Not my favorite margarita but ok. Would go again.

Came after the beach. The coronas were ice cold, the trio app was delicious (minus the huge chunk of avacado) the tacos were perfect. We all enjoyed them! We had churros for dessert. After having lukewarm beers and no taste tacos at El jefe the night before this place was great!! Our server Jess was super nice too!! PS Ditch the uniform idea! This place is casual, laid back and comfortable. All the servers looked put together and neat with what they had on! Keep your employees happy.

Awesome tacos and dip samplers! My mom got a frozen margarita and it was also very good!! I’m here about to have a baby but I will be back to try one for myself! Can’t wait to try the other tacos also. We got the kimchi beef taco, fire cracker tacos, Baja shrimp tacos, and tempura shrimp tacos. All were amazing!!

Tacos were disappointing, should have ordered something else. Our food came 5 minutes before the kids, . Bathroom was a mess apparently from the night before. Someone was trying to clean it during 12 o'clock rush. Waitress was nice but inattentive. It's gone downhill.

Some of the most authentic Mexican food with very friendly service. The chicken tortilla soup was perfect for a windy chilly day and the chicken ting taco had the perfect amount of spice that did not make your eyes water. The blood orange margarita was the perfect pairing with both soup and taco.

What a great place to enjoy outdoor seating and sample different street tacos. Everything we tried was delicious. Great flavor. Carnitas were very tasty. Staff was super friendly. Every diner seemed happy to be there and were enjoying themselves - from families with young kids, couples and groups of friends.

The restaurant had about a 30 min wait and quite the crowd, so we knew it would be good! Our server was on point and just attentive enough to keep us happy. We all ordered different menu items and nobody had anything to complain about. Food was delivered correctly and quickly. Everything was tasty. We will be back…(took off a star as the bathrooms were a bit rough).

While trying to fill the summer NFL Football void by watching a coma inducing Golf Channel presentation of the Scottish Open (in East Lothian), my lovely bride suggested/commanded..."Let's go to the Farmer's Market downtown." I instantly agreed. If you happen to be a Lowcountry resident, you know there's nothing quite like walking through the John C. Calhoun-less Marion Square at high noon on a day when it's slightly cooler than the surface of the Sun, shuffling past rows of vendors selling everything from pickles to crepes with the most popular vendor being the guy selling Lemonade. It sure beats watching the Scottish Open in East Lothian...maybe not. One unexpected highlight though was a duet featuring a keyboardist and drummer, knocking out great tunes from the days when music was music (1978-1982). Enjoyed them so much that I actually dug into my old cobweb covered Tandy wallet for a couple of bucks to fill the tip jar. Oddly juxtaposed was the the jarringly loud recorded music accompanying a group of albeit talented street dancers on the corner of Calhoun & King - (Francis Marion Hotel guests must love the din). Got to take the good and the bad sometimes! Clutching our bag of assorted fruits and vegetables like a pair of European seniors out shopping for their daily produce, we decided to get an adult beverage on top of the Dewberry Hotel (the U.S. Embassy looking building that sticks out like a sore thumb across from the park)...but then we changed our minds, instead deciding to get a bite to eat. Though it was a Saturday in July, we were surprised to discover how many restaurants no longer offered lunch compared to only a year ago, so we headed uptown, then remembered that we'd never been to TB, despite hearing good reviews from one of our ever growing number of home improvement contractors (Hey Kids, do yourself a favor and rent; don't buy a Charleston Money Pit!). We were seated inside quickly (the outdoor patio area was packed despite the sweltering heat!). Our comely server, clearly found me incredibly attractive and charming, (yes, I am often deluded), and gave us some excellent recommendations after learning that it was our first visit. Starting with a particularly good QUESO FRIES, we then branched out to TEMPURA AVOCADO, GRILLED MAHI, BUTTERMILK CHICKEN and FRIED MAHI tacos, all excellent (though the Mahi was slightly dry to be honest). Signs posted everywhere offering rides home served as a warning/marketing scheme regarding the impressive assortment of frozen libations available, (for those of you whose drinking preferences haven't advanced much since TKE Rush Week). Had a chance to chat with the manager at one point - learned that there would soon be an additional Taco Boy - great news considering the difficulties facing the restaurant industry in general. There is a slight upcharge for paying your bill with a credit card, so we decided to use some of the cash we'd planned to leave to family members once we kicked (tough luck kids!). Though nine times out of ten, I would rather be eating Dinty Moore Stew with a slice of Wonderbread than Mexican Food, the wife was impressed, the Tecate was cold and the atmosphere was fun. We'll be back (especially for some of them frozen concoctions, so that we can get a ride home!).

The Guac Dip was the freshest most delicious I've tasted in a while! Overall, the food was really good. The only drawback we experienced was the fact that we were quoted a 45 minute wait at 8:15PM when there were no others waiting and there seemed to be tables available. Having worked in the restaurant industry I realize this can be due to staffing issues or cleaning process which I completely understand. BUT if this is the case, it helps to keep guests in the know as to why they are waiting so long when there seems to be many tables open and only a few people waiting. We waited for a little over 20 minutes and when I finally went in to ask about the wait she said we'd be seated in the next couple minutes. Fortunately, it wasn't the full 45 minutes. Once sat, the food was good and staff was very friendly. But had to take a star off for the staff not being more transparent as to why we were left waiting outside so long while there were clearly tables open inside. Keeping guests informed goes a long way.

Haven’t been here in a bit. Had an appointment downtown, stopped in after. Tacos were awesome. Love the carnitas taco, perfect with that draft Pacifico.

This place deserves no stars- ZEROOOOO… We can’t understand how this restaurant can claim “authentic,” as nothing about the food was anything near that. Our food was cold and the place wasn’t busy. The young hostess clearly hated her job too. The bathrooms were DISGUSTING, which says a lot about the overall standards of the restaurant. I ordered the pineapple margarita and it tasted just like my husbands watered-down regular margarita. I had two bites of my chicken tacos 1) a chunk of fat, 2) a hard piece of cartilage. I ordered the TEN DOLLAR chicken tortilla soup, which was also watered-down. My husbands tacos were besides cold, laughable with the stale store-bought tortillas. The restaurant being right under the highway suited it well. How ever this got good ratings is beyond us.

The food was great! Lots of veggie/vegan options, which is always appreciated. The patio area is dog friendly. The service was top notch! I definitely recommend a meal here, if you're in Charleston.

We were traveling back to Virginia from Florida when my wife said what do you want for Valentines Day? I said, I would like the Street Corn at Taco Boy in Charleston. She laughed and said lets go. The detour added over 100 miles to our trip but it was worth it! The corn was so good! Our server Brie made the experience worth the extra miles too! I wish they had a Taco Boy in Richmond Va.
