I was walking downtown with my fiancé yesterday and we saw this place and we decided to stop in to get a sweet treat. Currently they have the whole store blocked off so when you walk in there are tables right by the door so you can go in a couple feet and that is it. They aren't accepting cash right now. There were two fields working. One was behind the counter by the cupcakes and she was very friendly and welcoming. The other girl was outside of the counter and she just seemed like she was over being at work. I don't think she said a single word to us. I got a red velvet cupcake and it was super good! It was moist cupcake and the icing was rich and sweet. I highly recommend this place.

Visited this cupcake store today after a long day of touring. I was very excited about this cupcake; however, I was incredibly disappointed. Don't get me wrong this place has the potential to be great, but it didn't meet my expectations. Upon arrival, we were not greeted or acknowledged by anyone in the store. My sister and I awkwardly stood there for a minute until an employee walked over to the register from where she was sitting on her cell phone, but didn't say a word. We had to ask her if we could order from her. Overall the environment was very unprofessional, including how the employees dressed while on the clock. I don't think customers want to see bottoms hanging out of shorts when in the store like we saw today. When I order my two cupcakes, the lady handled them with her bare hands and placed them right into a paper bag. I thought it was odd she did not wrap the cupcakes up or put them in a cake carrying box. When I got home; the frosting was everywhere in the bag. The cupcakes overall were mediocre and very dry, as if it's been sitting out for 12 hours in the open. To summarize, the store needs to work on the personal they higher represent them at the front and the quality of their cupcakes.

Cupcake DownSouth on King Street in Charleston is a great place to go for all things cupcakes and they are well worth the visit to check them out. I like just about the different flavors that they offer as each one tastes different and has its own unique taste. The staff here is very patient and helpful while you are deciding what to order. This is a good gift idea for many people too.

A few weeks ago, my family and I traveled to Charleston to celebrate our daughter's birthday. We wanted to make the event super special and because she is a vegan, we wanted to make certain that we made favorable and flavor-full food choices for our vegan foodie. I searched for vegan cupcakes and found some bakeries that said they made vegan, only to find one or two selection at each. That is, until I found Cupcake. Cupcake makes ONLY vegan cupcakes, so I was super stoked with this find. I wanted to place my order before we arrived. I called and the lady who took my order was attentive to my numerous questions. After settling on an order of a dozen cupcakes, I placed the order, thanked her and ended our conversation. I was thrilled with the anticipation of springing this surprise on our daughter who was unaware of the order. Several hours later, through casual conversation, I learned that she wasn't fond of the flavor I had chosen. Oops! Now I had the task of calling Cupcake again to change the order. I was filled with dread, as many businesses become annoyed over changing orders. When I called, the same lady answered the phone. She was delightfully accommodating and the order change was "a piece of cake." After ending the call, to my dismay, I learned that our daughter did not like white chocolate icing, so I truly dreaded calling to once again change my order. The same lady answered the phone and when I explained that I needed to once more change my order, she maintained the same polite and accommodating regard for my satisfaction. She and I had a good laugh over how some guys don't get it right the first time. On the birthday day, the order was for pick up at 7:00 pm, but our travel schedule had changed, so I had to call AGAIN to ask for a 4:00 pm pick up and I received the same polite, accommodating premier service. The party was a smash hit. The cupcakes were delicious and fresh. Probably one of the better cupcakes I've eaten (I ate two) and the best part was the look on my daughter's face when she took her first bite. Ahhhh, what a home run! Even though I am not a vegan, I highly recommend this gem, not only for it's outstanding cupcakes, but also for their genuine Southern charm!

We stopped in after walking through King St and having dinner. I ordered the red velvet and the chocolate. Both were GREAT! The chocolate was a nice, pure chocolate flavor, and not too sweet. The red velvet was lovely, too - moist and with the best cream cheese frosting. I admit these are pricey - roughly $3 per cupcake, but they were a delightful treat.

Little cute dessert shop that is worth your stop. My husband and I both got a cupcake shake. I got the caramel rum one and I can’t remember what he got... but they were both to die for. There wasn’t much of a wait. The service was quick. Nice gem!

We tried the birthday cupcake (delicious), the salted caramel chocolate (my fave), the almond and I forget the last one we're ok. The milkshake machine was down, the cupcakes were good though.

I found Cupcake purely by accident while walking through Downtown Charleston one summer while visiting family on Johns Island. Holy. Cow! Their flavors change daily, and every cupcake is a delicious, mouthwatering work of art. I always make it a point to stop by when I’m in the low country.

We walked several blocks because we read that they had sugar free cupcakes, only to discover this is true only two days a week. Not the day we were there. Then, the person at the counter told us that about half of everyone that asks for sugar free seems to know this. Well, those would be locals or people who have been there before. For anyone trying to eat healthy, this was going to be a treat. No, neither of us is grossly overweight, it's not about the long walk in the cold, it's about doing what you say you're going to do. Please correct your website to be more specific.

This is a cute shop for a quick treat! Several delicious cupcakes to choose from daily with a rotating menu. They even had pupcakes which we bought to celebrate our puppies' birthdays once we returned home!

Cute little shop. Cupcakes were very good and I would be happy to go back for another visit. If you like chocolate, get the chocoholic cupcake. It will not disappoint. There is seating inside so you can sit down.
