Words are inadequate at expressing this supreme bakery. I seek out French bakeries whenever I travel and this one EASILY BEAT THEM ALL!

This authentic French bakery is the real deal! As soon as I walked in this bakery I felt like I was transported into another country. The pastries are truly a work of art! The almond croissant was hands down the best pastry I have ever had… so good I’m still left day dreaming about it. The Le Chambertin bakery was one of the top highlights of our trip to Charleston! If you are in the area it is a must! Thank you for an unforgettable experience, we will be back! :)

A rare, authentic, unassuming space in Charleston. The owners are talented bakers, and wonderful to talk to. Their sweet dog is like a cartoon character with his little red scarf. The almond croissant is the best pastry I’ve had in this city. By far. We need more places like this.I’ve read through other reviews of this place that make me ashamed of, but not surprised by, southerners. Please before coming here the first time that it is a privilege to walk into a space that transports you to another land. Their culture deserves respect.

This authentic quaint French bakery with peaceful outdoor seating has freshly baked croissants, pastries, and French imported jams, mustard, etc. The baker kindly allowed us to take a short video of the interior, as long as he was not in it. The cinnamon pastry was buttery and delicious but a bit heavy. They did not have beignets. The almond croissant was flaky and better than any that I've had in Charleston, but none that I've had could compare with French Memories Bakery from our locality. Only two customers are allowed in the bakery at a time.

DO NOT ENTER!! Rude, obnoxious and miserable of an owner did not allow for a baby stroller to enter his mediocre establishment. Furthermore, the owners seem to be miserable as they forgot what the term "customer service" means.

Outstanding croissants. The best we've had in Charleston. This will become a regular stop for weekend breakfasts. Quaint and off the beaten path, not overrun with tourists.

Agree with one other costumer said, read the 1 star review, it will tell a different story.Came by two weekends ago hoping for some good pastries. We were a group of three adults, three kids and a two babies. The day was cold, rainy and windy. I went inside to buy the pastries while everyone else went outside. As I was paying for them, my husband and friend tried to sit in the terrace only to be banged on the window by the woman in the store that they didn't allow strollers. We didn't know this, they have a tiny sign on their gate that none of us saw. My husband and friend didn't know why the woman was banging on the window so one of the guys went outside and yelled at them about it. Mind you there was NO ONE sitting on the terrace. We understand that they don't want strollers, but why the yelling and finger wagging? Why are they so rude. I am surprised at the 5 star reviews but read the 1 star reviews, they tell a different and more realistic story.I am mad I ended up buying their pastries, they were fine. Nothing special, I've had better.

BLUF: Do not take photos of interior, just OK ham and cheese croissant, and strikingly mean, hostile staff. I’d recommend you spend your money elsewhere & read the other 1 star reviews.Me and my friend (visiting from out of town) had just left a bridal appointment at Magnolia Bride and noticed that the bakery, recommended by a friend, was a few steps away. Naturally, we see the cute, cozy interior, are riding a high from wedding dress shopping as lifelong friends, and want to document the weekend together. I took a photo of the interior and the woman immediately started yelling at me to delete any photos, “especially if [she’s] in them,” and demanded to watch me delete them from my camera roll and recently deleted folder. To be fair, upon viewing the photos her face was blurry, but still in the photos, so I can respect her right to ask me to delete them and of course I’d do the same for anyone to avoid an invasion of privacy. But the hostility! Never have I been so disparaged by anyone in my life, and definitely never by someone providing “Charleston hospitality” as she says LOL. I have to laugh because in retrospect the whole thing was ludicrous and I feel pity for her skewed morals and sense of reality. On top of the brash attack, when I asked (3 times!) why she did not allow photos of even the interior, she ignored me. Anyways, long winded way to say I will never be going back there and I recommend you also spend your money somewhere that covets the opportunity to provide TRUE Charleston hospitality! The French just make it so hard on themselves… life is too short to be such a b****!

Fantastic ham and Swiss croissant - flaky and the perfect size for lunch. The owner is French and the good is amazing. It’s as good - if not better- than anything else you’ll find in Charleston

Do not come here if you are a mother/father/nanny and have a kid or stroller. I tried to walk in and was immediately rushed out the door by the owner telling me they don't allow strollers for "security purposes." I understood this and I was trying to turn around to park the stroller and get the baby out, and she continued to make me feel extremely uncomfortable walking me out of her courtyard and telling me to have a good day. Super negative experience!

Very disappointed today. We always love the croissants and quiches from that place. Went there yesterday and had a nice fresh croissant. Went today again with some work colleagues and got old croissants from yesterday:( what happened to that lovely place????
