Celebrating a bday with friends. It was a wonderful experience. The chef was very entertaining, the food was delicious and we all had a great time. We will return.Vegetarian options: One of our friends did not eat meat and they prepared a veggie dish for him to enjoy for his meal and it was absolutely delicious!Dietary restrictions: They inquire about food allergies so as not to cause any health issues.
Every time we come it seems to get better. Typically, we only come for birthdays as a special occasion but our visit had me wishing we could come way more often! We came for the Early Bird Special steak & shrimp and I honestly think it's the best food we have ever had here. Service was quick & efficient and management made sure to check on us several times to ensure everything was going smoothly. The white sauce and rice were perfectly seasoned. The shrimp and steak were definitely the stars of the show. The veggies added that little bit that was necessary for texture and flavor. Our chef, John, was spectacular and quick. (Thank you, John!) Not too fast though! Of course, he was entertaining and incredibly kind. He took the correct amount of time and was funny to boot. I would like to thank Ashley, the hostess who I believe I overheard would be having her last day today, and Stacey, our server. Both were incredibly kind and quick. Honestly, our Friday night service was a masterclass in Japanese steakhouse service. Additionally, thank you to any management and back of house staff we did not get to meet personally.Dietary restrictions: Chefs take care to ensure any dietary restrictions are kept in mind while cooking. One of the other people I was eating with needed something to be kept away from her food and the chef made sure no cross-contamination occurred.Kid-friendliness: Great place for kids! Chefs are super entertaining AND you get a free paper chef's hat for being a kid! Dessert is included for Early Bird and any dessert for birthdays/special occasions is relatively cheap ($2-8). Some of my favorite memories from being a child were the few birthdays I got to go here!

Not only was the food amazing, but the service and wait staff were so kind and gave us the best service. We asked about the serving size on our spring rolls and they packed us an extra order to go with no charge and offered us free dessert. The manager checked in with us multiple times and was also so kind. I have come here a dozen times and have always left here smiling! Highly recommend this place above any sushi place in Charleston!Kid-friendliness: We also brought along my two year old kiddo and they gave him crayons, a special hat, a chopstick aid, and some chocolate filled cookies with the check!

Our chef literally had to scrape our scallops off of the grill, because they were so burnt black and crusty, and instead of tossing them, and possibly calling a manager over to replace the scallops that had literally been on the grill for over 20 minutes he served them to us after chopping them up and trying to drown them in butter and soy sauce, to make them edible, which they were not. After coming here for 10+ years to celebrate birthdays I have to say this is so disappointing to have to write a bad review for one of our favorite restaurants. I made a reservation for 7 people several days earlier, the day of, I received a confirmation for 2 people, I called the restaurant and explained that they made the mistake and that our reservation was wrong. The lady on the phone was so rude, no apology, no, I’m so sorry someone made a mistake, we will be happy to accommodate you, because we made the mistake. Instead, she acted like I was trying to pull a fast one and sneak an extra five people in on our reservation. Then she insisted that they couldn’t accommodate us at 6 o’clock, so we had to come in at 6:30. Fine, no big deal, you made a mistake, but we will be inconvenienced. Didn’t get seated until after 7 PM. They squeezed nine people into our table so one person in our party had to sit on a corner like an afterthought. The chef didn’t speak to us basically the entire time, performed one little bowl flip, and then just proceeded to over cook everything we ordered with the exception of our steak. This restaurant used to be the epitome of amazing food and entertainment, and now they just shuffle everyone in like cattle, and could really care less if people have a bad dining experience after spending over $500 for dinner.

I've been coming here for years and it has never ever been anything short of amazing! Service is always good and food is always delicious ESPECIALLY the sashimi! I will never go anywhere else in SC for sushi. Literally the only downside is finding parking on a busy night, everything else is perfect every time!
Amazingly excellent service, top quality food. Friendly and efficient staff that was pleasant to be around. Recommend anytime.
