I have been patronizing this restaurant since it first open, probably 20 or more years. The food is absolutely outstanding and the service is usually pretty good. If you were sitting outside, both the bartenders who were rally behind the bar are very friendly however last night when I showed up with my wife at 8:35, we were told they were done for the night and they could not service us. The dining room was probably at 90% capacity and there was not a single seat open at the bar, but there were tables in the outside area available I asked the hostess who I have never seen there before to please reconsider that I am a regular there and have been for the life of the restaurant she very rudely told me no they were done for the night and they weren’t going to make any exceptions. Another woman showed up and once again rudely we reinforced Their decision to be closed even though they had a full house. I have been telling all my friends that Charleston has become the little Manhattan to the south. in anyway, this is further proof of that however I have dined and spent a lot of time and many Italian restaurants in Manhattan seeing that I love Italian and there is not a single one of them that would’ve turned us away and told us no service at 8:30 with a packed towels this happened to us before it was right after covid and I let it slide. We have come here on many a night and approximately this time and had wonderful meals. It must be nice to have enough business to just decide you don’t need anymore. you don’t need the business of a regular customer who is stuck with you from the very beginning. I don’t know if I’ll go back. it is a real shame

It pains me to leave Mondo’s a not so great review but tonight my family and I didn’t have a great experience. We arrived around 7 and I had simply requested a table for 6 adults. The hostess leaves and then comes back and states that they would not be able to accommodate 6 people tonight. I understand if I should had made a reservation beforehand but they do not accept reservations. We also called before to see how long the wait was but there was no answer. I understand it being a busy Saturday night but turning down a table of 6 people who were willing to wait really upsets me. I love Mondo’s food so much and we just wanted to show our guests that we had in town how delicious it is, but unfortunately we weren’t able to. Again, I would understand if we were a very large party, but it was just 6 adults.

Visiting Charlston and wanted some Italian food, found Mondos on line, great service, great food, nice place. Food was hot and delicious. Generous portions. In and out in an hour even with a busy dinner crowd.

Joseph at the bar made it an experience to remember. A locals only restaurant with a 90 minute wait should tell you everything you need to know. See you again next week Mondo’s.

One of the best meals I've ever had. Service was top notch.
Very tasty Italian restaurant! It was packed like sardines on a Tuesday night, which is a good sign of great food. Was a bit crowded and loud for my typical liking, but it was well worthwhile. The service was about as good as the food, but the food certainly was the star of the show!

My sister and her grown-up children love coming here. They decided to bring me for dinner when I was visiting. They loved many of the dishes, and it seemed that this place is reworking their menu and adding some new items and changing some favorites, which they weren't too pleased with. I ordered the fried artichoke goat cheese appetizer, manicotti, with a meatball add-on. It was all very good!! I would definitely recommend going here for a good, tasty meal.

Mondo's is a great Italian restaurant on James Island. The food here is fantastic. I personally love the Alfredo with prosciutto and snow peas but everything is delicious. Nice little outside bar so you can have a cocktail while waiting for a table. Service is great.

Best Italian I’ve had since leaving NY 20 yrs ago! Wish I found it when I lived in SC but, I surely will eat there every time I get to SCParking: Small parking lot but many more spots at businesses near by
Mondo's is a spot to savor. Great Italian food prepared with love. I had a tasty side salad and eggplant parm. Others had veal scampi and various pasta dishes. All were winners. The restaurant is hidden in the corner of a James Island shopping center. Worth a trip.
