Then there is Muse in Charleston…We mulled over the menu for maybe 20 seconds when Donny dropped in on our table (after checking in with regulars, ensuring people saw the step on the way in and greeting total strangers like they were bffs) and altered our evening from a nice night out to a next level experience.He asked us about any dietary “stuff like allergies, vegan-“Me: “yup, we’re vegetarian.”Donny: “I’m getting you the Fettuccine Carbonara but I’ll make sure there’s no meat. It’s what you want. Anything to start? The beets and carrot plate is amazing. How about wine?”Me: “Red…”Donny: “I got you.”I haven’t tasted a pasta dish like that. Ever. Everything is prepared in house (including the fresh noodles), the wine was on POINT and just order the Beets and Carrots. Donny would approve…Donny: “dessert?”My wife: “we were thinking about it but we can’t remember the menu” (cuz we hardly even saw it!)Donny: “Trust me? I got you” and capping (until then) our Muse experience with Pomegranate Liquor soaked ladyfingers topped with a pistachio crumble alt-tiramisu apres’ unlike any dessert I’ve tasted.Now for the amazing part: we leave our credit card behind on the table. I get a phone call/voicemail that I don’t answer/check until 10:59pm. It’s a lovely woman from Muse informing me about our card saying the close at 11pm. We fly out the next morning… I call them, crossing my fingers.Donny answers, problem solves really fast by way of “I’m swinging past your hotel on my way to drinks with a buddy who’s in town. You’ll never know if that true, but I’m dropping off the card anyway…” So I run downstairs and three minutes later, he’s jumping out of the car with a take-away box grinning “you didn’t think I’d come empty handed, did ya?!”Donny, you made our trip. Thanks for being a rad human, serving tasty food and for the extra slice of pistachio heaven. May we all channel a little more of THAT in this world.

We had dinner tonight on our last night of vacation and MUSE did not disappoint! We had a great experience sitting on the adorable patio, with Donnie as our waiter. He made our dinner such a fun experience by asking us our likes and dislikes, and brought us dishes he thought we would enjoy. He nailed every single one of them! This dinner made for the perfect last night in Charleston, best meal all week! The halibut was insane. We highly highly recommend! Sit on the patio if you can :)

From the second we checked in till we closed the place down we had excellent service. Donnie was amazing server. From wine recommendations, meal ideas, and dessert choices he didn't steer us wrong. But after a recommendation from a friend, I called up Muse and spoke with Donnie, the owner, about the situation. Donnie put me at ease in terms of budget and how the evening would flow, and, indeed, he delivered.The space is eclectic, homey, and warm — like the townhouse of your eccentric aunt who's been to Europe a time or 10. Seating can be a bit tight, but then again, we had a group of 14. Even though our group was split into two different tables, we were kept right next to each other the timing of dishes and drinks stayed in sync with both groups throughout the night.The best part? He took the ordering off of our hands, doling out appetizers (the mussels and duck were winners!), pasta dishes (the short rib won us over, but all of it was perfectly cooked), and drinks that suited our tastes. Several people in our group had serious food allergies, and Donnie assured us that they'd adhere to strict standards for dairy and gluten allergies. Two words: Nailed. It.Donnie's a self-effacing charmer — hilarious, but also serious about the food and experience. He gifted our group a couple bottles of bubbles and sent us off with one of the best toast speeches I've heard in a minute. Definitely one of the best restaurants in Charleston. I was with a large group (10+) and we all left overjoyed and raving about the atmosphere and taste of the drinks and dishes. Between all of us in the group we tried a majority of the apps and entrees and we cleaned the plates and were in awe of the unique ingredients flavors. Donnie was our server and we don't have enough good things to say about him. Within the first 10 minutes he knew us all on a first name basis and gave the best recommendations. Highly recommend getting a reservation for your next dining occasion.Vegetarian options: They were very accommodating with the vegetarian options. Although there was not many labeled as vegetarian on the menu, our server made recommendations and made specialty dishes that were incredible!

I will always make sure to go here anytime I come to Charleston. The servers we had (Gabby & Donny), were absolutely phenomenal! Donny took the wheel and picked out our apps, entrees, and based on our liquor preferences, our drinks. Completely nailed it. The vibe and atmosphere were great! I loved every second of our dining experience! The food was stellar (highly recommend the duck app and the sea bass entree), cocktails were divine (Blueberry gin martini), & dessert was also amazing!
