Tremendous experience. While it’s hard to rank a Top 5 Charleston restaurants in order, it’d definitely be in the group.

Absolutely fantastic experience at The Establishment. The food was really awesome, but what really set this restaurant above its competitors was the level of service. All the wait staff, everyone, was phenomenally well trained and did an exceptional job. This was our first time going, but it's now on my short list of favorite restaurants in Charleston. Very, very highly recommended.

My wife and I stopped by last minute to The Establishment, we sat at the bar and were lucky to have Darren take such good care of us. We had just sailed into Charleston the night before in heavy weather, the next day, walking downtown and were so glad we stopped in. We had the most amazing conversation with others at the bar and as we first met Darren shared our names and the name of our boat. We spent 3 hours having the most delightful cocktails and 4 rounds of pairing appetizers and wine, topped off with a decedent brownie and home made strawberry ice cream. What made the night so special is the care and attention the entire staff gave to everyone. The sommelier that helped a few guys eating next to us, was friendly and equally passionate about wine as we are. While we don’t write many reviews, this place earned it. As we were leaving Darrin thanked us both by name and wished us fair sailing, also remembering the name of our boat 3 hours later. Thanks you all for a wonderful onshore experience. One last thought, this was one of the top 5 best cocktails I’ve had. The Gothic.

One of the best dining experiences we've had in Charleston!! We have eaten in A LOT of the fine dining restaurants here and this one was quite impressive! From the moment we walked in, every person working there that we had contact with was so friendly and charming. The hostesses greeted us very welcomingly, our server duo were perfect (shout out to Tanner & Nehemiah), and even the young lady refilling our wine glasses seemed happy to be helping us. The employees here have obviously been very well trained and it shows - service was well above par! Absolutely outstanding! The food was amazing. Perfectly balanced & proportioned. A lot of thought & consideration went into the menu. Everything we had was beyond delicious.Live piano was a lovely addition to the ambiance. Not too loud. Event though the kitchen is open, it wasn't obtrusive. The feel was modern-urban with a cozy warmth. Hard to put into words but it was a very pleasant dining experience.Highly recommend!!

Food was awesome highly recommend the whole fish! Just as important, the service was seriously five star overall. What really stood out though was that we came with our toddler and you would not believe how nice they were about accommodating him. Seriously treated him like he was a VIP. The manager(?) immediately moved us to a table that was lower and the staff offered us multiple different size high chairs or boosters to make him comfortable. I mean this is not a kids restaurant but geez I’ve never been to a “kid friendly” restaurant that was this kid friendly.Thank you guys for thinking of our toddler!!!He loved the pasta with extra cheese as requested too!!Kid-friendliness: The most kid friendly nice restaurant I’ve been to.

Really

This was an interesting place. We booked a table in the music room for live entertainment, and the live entertainment was running late. That may be beyond the control of the restaurant, but people make their reservations based on the timing of the live entertainment. The food is good, probably better than many places, but man do they over sell it. I am pretty sure the server can tell you the name of the fish and how many relatives it had....where every vegetable was grown, and the name of the person that picked them. So much hype for what amounts to just "good". The service was inefficient. The person who sat us gave us an overview. Then our server gave us the same overview. After we ordered, additional silverware was brought to the table, only to be taken away less than 2 minutes later unused and untouched. Now, onto my real gripe. "We don't have specials because the menu changes daily." Except, it doesn't. The menu we had matched what was online before our visit and after our visit. There is nothing wrong with the same menu nightly, but don't say it changes when I see no changes....or if only one random thing changes daily...that's not really a daily menu.

Made a last minute reservation as our earlier plans did not provide enough food. The Establishment is always on point with great food, service and ambience. Bringing another out of town guest in a couple of weeks!

Terrific Seafood in the heart of Charleston. Cordial and attentive staff. There when you want, not when you don't. Terrific work with excellent and primarily local ingredients. Sit at the chefs counter and enjoy food, conversation and some education about your meal.

So cross another of the list of Restaurants to eat in SC and this one was a fantastic experience. We came to celebrate a friend's birthday and had a wonderful time. There was a jazz piano playing but it wasn't so loud that you couldn't converse at the table. Drinks were fantastic and there was a wide variety to choose from. Menu changes daily and was hard to choose. Couldn't go wrong with anything.

We love this place and have eaten here several times. Our server last night really put a damper on the evening. She barely checked on us, seemed in a hurry, and spent a lot of time talking with a table of what seemed to be her friends? We skipped dessert even though we were there for a 50th birthday dinner. Disappointed.
