Had a warm and enjoyable evening tonight at The James. Sat at the bar which is beautiful and relaxed. Mussells, tuna tartare, and crème brûlée are perfect but strangely my favorite is the savory and sweet lightly dressed citrus flavored kale salad. It’s so delicate and yummy!Jess are bartender was warm, delightful, professional and hard working.Thank you for a great evening!

We made reservations for our anniversary. We were served complimentary champagne to celebrate. We got the Spinach artichoke dip to start, it was full of cheese which is how I like it! I got the crab cakes, they were the best I've ever had. It was actual clump crab meat instead of the regular type where it seems as if it's been put through a food processor. They were SO dang good! My husband got the prime rib and thought it was equally as good. I'm giving the spicy marg 5 stars too for presentation but unfortunately was not a fan of it.Parking: No need to worry about parking

We had high expectations as we read the reviews. The 3 of us were out for a birthday dinner. We ordered the artichoke dip and the mussels. The dip was way too cheesy to stand up to the fresh chips. The mussels had limited broth and the bread was very dark. Overall, the mussels tasted good. Our entrees were the pecan chicken, ribeye, and crab cakes. My chicken was dry and had too much breading which fell off with each bite. The green beans were very undercooked. The mashed sweet potatoes were good. The ribeye was an inferior cut with little to no marbling. The crab cakes were large and full of crab and the asparagus was cooked well. The creme brulee was delicious and a great size. Overall, I think the menu is overpriced and I'm not a fan of a la cart for the sides with the steak. Our bill was $200 for 3 people. I didn't give the feedback then as we were treating a friend to a birthday dinner and didn't want to spoil the mood. The service was good and the atmosphere is ok. I don't think I'll make the drive to James Island again for a meal.

If you haven't been, GO! Great atmosphere, relaxed and welcoming. The food is on par with places like Royal Turn, Blue Oyster, and other higher end establishments. It's better than some places on Kiawah. Crab cakes are phenomenal, best I've had, EVER. I grew up on the Gulf Coast and spent many years by the water. These crab cakes are primarily crab and not all the filler and greasy fried bits you get everywhere else.Wheelchair accessibility: Paved lots, easy to navigate.

Oh my goodness! If you haven't tried The James, you are missing out on some excellent food and service! It's fine dining on the Island. Beautiful atmosphere. Extremely clean with a nice ambience. I had the French onion soup (one of the best I've ever had), ribeye steak; cooked perfectly, potato soufflé, mac & cheese (everything was delicious)... she had the prime rib, broccolini & potatoe soufflé. Great wine selection & a full bar to satisfy every liking. Bathroom was spotless btw & very pretty. Our service was excellent ? Robert C thank you for taking care of us & making our 1st but not last experience awesome!!

We will definitely be returning and trying more of the food and coming back for the wonderful service and staff. Staff is attentive and kind. Food was seasoned perfectly and cooked perfect. Great option for dining on James Island. I had the best Chicken Picata I have ever had. It was a specia,l and I hope they put it on the regular menu. Service was excellent, attentive and professional. Don't skip the craft cocktails with the huge ice cube.
