Absolutely adore smallSUGAR!!!I tried the prime rib sandwich with marinated cucumbers, and the iced golden latte during my visit. Everything was phenomenal! The atmosphere was very relaxed, great artwork that is available for purchase, and the staff is very polite. When the signs says they're gratuity free, they mean it! There are no tip jars or prompts asking for a tip.

Cool little bakery/coffee shop in downtown Columbia. It’s a little hard to find down the alley but it’s a great gem! We met the owner who was so friendly and welcoming. Although there is a small, limited menu, the food was fantastic and surprisingly unique. I tried the smallSugar breakfast and loved it. Highly recommend giving it a try. Also, the team doesn’t accept tips and told us that they get paid well by the owner, which was nice to hear.

Visiting from out of town. First day there, the person opening did not show up. Waited outside for 40 minutes. The situation was handled very well by staff after that and the food was AMAZING! Tried to go back on Monday before leaving South Carolina and while they were open, there were no pastries and we were told there was no idea when they would be available- to call later.I will say, when its open and there is food, it's pretty great, but it's a little inconsistent.

The best pain au chocolat around if you can get it!! At 7:45am there were no pastries in the case and I was told to ‘call back later’. This has happened one too many times at various times in the morning - please fix your supply issues!!

The prime rib sandwich was BIG and messy but tasty! I really enjoyed the roasted carrots too - they were seasoned really well! The turkey sandwich was also very good. Just FYI the marinated cucumbers are pickles. The cortado and almond croissant were delicious as well - very big pastries! Pricey but nice place for lunch.

Got coffe there twice. Both times it was watered down and flavorless. I would find another place.

An absolutely fantastic place for breakfast or lunch. If you’re a mushroom fan, the mushroom tartine is a delight and the soft scrambled eggs…good lord, it’s hard to find the words. A wonderful place well worth your time. And I think it’s so great that they pay the employees a proper wage so tips aren’t part of the exchange.

Great menu, amazing food and coffee. 5$ cortado is wayyyy too expensive, even for NYC or LA standards.Lots of good vegetarian and vegan options.

I love this place, vibe, and food! Unbelievable. Would love to see faster guest wifi as I have to get on my hotspot with each visit. Also, would love to see prices drop 10-15% and allow tips for service. It would be interesting to see if this improves the hustle score. I spoke with several other patrons while waiting in line and all agreed that the food is amazing but service is lacking due to overwhelming volume of customers at peak times.

This was my first time coming here and I will definitely be coming back! I got the overnight oats, almond croissant, and an iced chai au lait. Everything was very tasty. I just moved to Columbia a few months ago and have been on the hunt for a new favorite chai and I think I found it here! Staff is very kind and gave good recommendations. Absolutely love the music in here too, some fun throwbacks I haven’t heard in a while. Price is what I would expect for a small business bakery, especially in the heart of the city. Can’t wait to support more small Columbia businesses like this one.
