Had dinner at this place on the 24th of May two days before the Old Fort Pub closed. Sorry for a long time establishment like this to go, I understand the building was sold? Hopefully on my next visit to the island whoever takes over can keep the great tradition alive love a 5 star restaurant and hate to see them go. Friendly staff greeted us upon arrival and gave us a choice of setting arrangements. Waiters and waitresses attentive to our needs, waitress also help with our order selections. Food was prepared perfectly, what is there more to say. Sadly this will be our first and last visit to the Old Fort Pub. Good luck to staff and ownership in the future!

We made reservations here months ago and last night we showed up for our reservation (that was confirmed btw) only to find out that they have permanently closed. The will not open back up and did not have any indication on their website or Opentable (where we reserved). Open Table indicated that several others had made reservations here recently also. If you have made any for future visits don't bother. We would up eating at Skullcreek Dockside and were not disappointed!

Warning- restaurant is permanently closed as of June 3rd but is still taking reservations via Open Table. Don't waste your time driving over there like I did!

The restaurant had closed permanently three days before our reservation. Nonetheless we received a confirmation of the reservation on the day we were scheduled to dine. We were celebrating my mother's 90th birthday during their visit from Oklahoma. Couldn't have been more disappointed in Open Table. Unbelievable!!

The Old Fort Pub is one of our favorite restaurants on HHI. The food and service is always outstanding and the sunset over Skull Creek is incredible. We have enjoyed many dinners with family and friends during our visits to HHI. Unfortunately, this lovely spot is closing. Last night, was the last time the Old Fort Pub was open. We were lucky to have reservations and enjoy the amenities one last time. Thank you, Old Fort Pub. We will miss you.

We ate on the patio. It was a perfect evening! We started with the caprese salad, I had the Shell Fish Cakes and my hubby had the Chilean Sea Bass. Ended with the Key Lime Tart. Everything was delicious! Service was excellent! The sunset view.... gorgeous!

The food was outstanding. Our group of four selected the bouillabaisse, flounder with crab and gnocchi and everyone was very pleased. The bread is an excellent addition to the meal.

Old Fort Pub is my favorite restaurant in Hilton Head. We have dinner there every time we are here. It is a lovely, cozy place with an amazing sunset view of the back water and moss draped oak trees. The food is wonderful and the service amazing. We highly recommend a visit while on the island.

The Chilean sea bass and shell fish cakes were excellent. We ate outside on the patio - beautiful setting, especially at sunset. Service was impeccable. It was our best meal of our trip.

We love eating at Old Fort when we visit Hilton Head Island. Everything is top notch from wait staff, to restaurant on the water, outdoor seating and excellent menu. Thanks again for a wonderful experience!

Our waterside patio table complemented a delicious and well executed dinner. From the amuse bouche to the complimentary chocolate treats at the end of our meal, this was a superb dining experience. The Old Fort Pub is located adjacent to Fort Mitchel, a Civil War fortification built in 1861 by Union Army forces as part of the defenses of a coaling station and ship maintenance facility at Seabrook Landing. It was named for Brigadier General Ormsby M. Mitchel, and is a rare surviving example of a semi-permanent fortification built by the Union in the South Carolina Low Country (Wikipedia). The restaurant was built in the early 1970's, and designed to look like structures built in the 1860's, and the restaurant offers beautiful waterfront views, and old Oak trees covered in Spanish moss. For dinner we selected: * CAPRESE SALAD SPECIAL * ROASTED TOMATO GNOCCHI - Caramelized Sweet Onions, Broccolini, Grape Tomatoes, Shittake Mushrooms, Roasted Carrots, Blush Alfredo Cream * MAHI MAHI IN SAFFRON CREAM SAUCE SPECIAL All of these dishes were excellent, we'd be delighted to reorder all of them. That said, the saffron cream sauce was amazing, not too heavy or viscous, perfectly prepared with tender and fresh fish. However, if you'd like to enjoy this beautiful venue, you may need to visit soon. According to local sources, though the restaurant is still open, Old Fort Pub will be demolished to make way for The Charles, a 22-unit luxury complex developed by Charleston-based Hancock Development Corp.

Service was not that great. Food portions very small for a split plate with up charge. We had to get some food afterward at a different establishment. When I requested the 10 % marriott discount, the server told me to go talk to the manager. We will not return.

We visited Old Fort Pub 3 years ago and it was wonderful We just went there tonight for a special dinner and the whole experience was absolutely awful. Had a 6:30 reservation and we were back in the car at 7:14 - not too rushed to turn the table. The shellfish cakes were not just bad they were inedible. The polenta had to have been made last week it was so dry and tasteless. I got one glass of water that was never refilled. The plates were practically pulled out from under us. Wine and drinks and dinner were over $200 and I am home eating popcorn because I couldn't eat the dinner. The service was equally as bad. Never again.

The Old Fort Pub is a Hilton Head treasure! The ambience, food and service are all outstanding. It was so sad to learn that the restaurant will be closing sometime in the near future so don't hesitate to visit this classic HHI restaurant!!
