We attended the weekend oyster roast and bbq at Mingo Point the Saturday before Labor Day. Besides having wonderful food , a market, and fun games for the children, you could stroll of the beautiful grounds. The oysters were steamed to perfection and the staff came.up with a signature cocktail for the event. This was a wonderful start to the holiday weekend.

Just commit and make the reservation!Since it is held on Monday evening, I never remember to book in advance on our Seabrook Island vacations - but this year I did, and I am so glad! The ambiance is wonderful - you are outside, marsh side, sunset views. There are multiple areas of communal tables - so smaller groups might be sharing.Food: the buffet food had a few stars (slaw with dried cranberries was delish) but as you might anticipate - some of the buffet line food wasn't great (white meat chicken a little dry, hot dogs and buns dried out)...BUT the LOW COUNTRY BOIL and ROASTED OYSTERS were so yummy! It is all buffet style - and you shuck your own oysters. The oyster shucking stations are fun and communal.I really didn't try most of the buffet food - just a few bites from my kids plates. But I made two trips for low country boil and waited on oysters for my dessert! They could improve the experience with better drink choices at the bar (some craft beers, please!).Great live music. Fun kids activities (hula hoops, scavenger hunt). Lots of photo opportunities. Porch swings. My advice: dress for the weather since outside - and it is hot work shucking hot oysters! Wear insect repellant! All of the employees were friendly (less so for some of the other diners!).I would DEFINITELY do this again - not just a meal, a whole experience!

I have been going to Kiawah island for 20 years and have never been to Mingo Point. The food was terrific, and I’ll definitely go again.

YUM! A group of ten met recently on Kiawah Island at Mingo Point for the Monday evenings public "Oyster Roast and Barbecue." In spite of the humidity, we ate our way to a good time with the delicious offerings. At the end of the meal, each of us shared comments about our favorite food of the night: ribs, chicken, mac 'n cheese, and, of course, the roasted oysters. Before summer ends, we hope to visit Mingo Point again to partake in more of the yummy dishes offered at the Oyster Roast and Barbecue.

I attended a Mingo Point Oyster Roast and BBQ on Kiawah Island. I enjoyed the beautiful sunset while eating delicious ribs. Everything was well organized. The s’mores bar for dessert was a great ending to the night.

Try to go around sunset. The view over the marsh is spectacular. If it's a still night you may want some bug spray. The food, staff and entire experience should be required for anyone visiting Kiawah Island.
