My husband and I made a last-minute itinerary change and we ended up looking for accommodations near Harper’s Ferry, WV and fortunately ended up finding the Carriage House Inn Bed & Breakfast. Donn and Marie were our incredible hosts and they maintain a fabulous authentic historic residence. Our room was spacious, comfortable, clean. We had the most amazing hot tub/jacuzzi in our room and a lovely little screened porch. When we arrived, Marie greeted us by giving us a short history of the house. The common rooms are so incredibly well decorated for the period. On the day we arrived we were greeted with homemade brownies with caramel icing. The breakfast is first rate. Donn made the most incredible crustless quiche and pumpkin walnut muffins! Yum! The Carriage Inn is within walking distance of the downtown, many restaurants and absolutely lovely neighborhoods. When I came to this review site to post this review it did not surprise me that The Carriage Inn had a solid five star rating. But I did notice that at least one guest rated it average and one guest rated it terrible. I don’t even want to try to cull through the reviews to figure out what in the world caused them to rate it that way. I guess it just proves that no matter how outstanding and wonderful some thing is there’s always somebody who is going to complain! All I know is that I have highly recommended it already to friends through my trip notes that I write while I travel. We would definitely stay at The Carriage Inn if ever we were in Charles Town, West Virginia again.
