I've been a fan of Pep Rolls since the early days. I'd find them popping up at a festival and grab a sandwich or a bag of rolls to take home. Now they've got their own store front so you don't have to chase them down. The best is to grab a sandwich fresh in the store. I've had a few now and they're all delicious. I like to take the rolls home and create my own though too. I get creative with whatever I've got available... usually lunch meat or leftovers like chicken and you've gotta add cheese! To be honest, it's sometimes just me heating one up and adding cheese to it. Plus they've got a full catering kitchen here. I was always a fan of Carpentiers when I lived down the street so it's nice to see them keep that legacy alive with many of their hit items too. If you haven't had the Secret Brownies, they are a must! I believe the secret ingredient is almond paste maybe and it's one of the best brownies I've ever had. FYI, there are nuts in them if that's an issue for you. Mathias has done a great job merging the two businesses and now is able to offer the best of both.

I just recently heard about Pep Rolls through a yelp promotion. I decided to try a couple different rolls, pasta salad, grilled veggies and a secret brownie. I called to place my order and was greeted on the phone by a very friendly lady who helped me make the right selections. I went to the restaurant to pick up my order. It is very centrally located just over the Ravenel Bridge in Mount Pleasant. That's convenient for those in Charleston, Mount Pleasant, IOP and Sullivan's Island. I was surprised by the very warm atmosphere and interesting decor in the restaurant. Two friendly faces (behind masks) greeted me. My food had just been packaged and was waiting for me on a table. The rolls were delicious: Italian yeast bread with an abundance of deliciously spicy pepperoni baked in them. My husband had a roll that was split open and filled with banana peppers, black olives and mozzarella cheese, then toasted in an oven. Mine was covered in mozzarella cheese and marinara sauce and was also toasted. We had a side of pasta salad and a side of roasted veggies. To top it all off, we splurged with a very yummy 'secret brownie'. The restaurant itself was immaculate. The staff wore masks and I felt very safe. My food was meticulously packaged. I will definitely be going back. I will most likely try one of their casseroles next time. Shop local and try the Pep Rolls Cafe. You will not regret it!

Great service, great food. One of my favorite new spots now. The Mountaineer was awesome and the bread so fresh. We got takeout and it was the perfect thing to eat on the go.

Got to stand in line with 3 other WVU fans while chanting Let’s Go Mountaineers and got to leave with 4 bags of hefty pepperoni rolls. Happy West Virginia Day to me!!
