This restaurant could be awesome but they engage in some questionable tactics. I don’t understand any business that seems to purposely engage in price gouging their clients.First, there are three tiers of wine pricing. The lowest tier is $40 a bottle for something you can buy for less than $10 at Total Wine. That isn’t out of the ordinary so we ordered a bottle of Chardonnay. After a long wait, we find out they are sold out on a Tuesday night. Most restaurants will substitute a higher price bottle for the same price. That didn’t happen. So we ask about getting a bottle at the next higher tier. We were told we could only get a glass because a bottle wasn’t possible. So that meant we would have paid just as much for two glasses as we would for a whole bottle. Something tells me we could have ordered two glasses each which meant they could have sold us a bottle but wanted to price gouge us. Both the server and manager were unapologetic. Then, I ordered the crab legs which were “market price”. I should have asked what that meant because I paid $59 for two small crab clusters with no sides. It was rather aggravating to pay that much to leave hungry. We will NOT be back.

Really beautiful interior, and the food was great! The waiter was very attentive and said they just a hired a new chef. The French fries were so cool, and I loved the super veggie sushi. Great cocktails, awesome spot for brunch on the water.

This gorgeous restaurant will likely not survive because of its terrible service. It’s such a shame, the place is stunning, wonderful views, exactly the type of vibe Shem was missing. The food was pretty good, not groundbreaking, but better than most popular Shem Creek spots. However, the service was shockingly bad. You cannot charge a $40 entree and have this type of service. After apps came we couldn’t find the server to order entrees, no one bussed the table or refilled waters until we had to ask. We had to remind them several times that we ordered drinks. When food finally came out from a different server they couldn’t name what they were holding or where it should go (we had 6 at the table so this was very confusing). Then, after the food arrived, several things were missing, drinks never came, and we kept having to hunt down the server or someone to help. Just so frustrating and sad to see. I hope management sees this review and places more importance on training staff so that this place could survive.

Delicious food. Great service. Great local beer. Noisy when busy. Be aware that parking is a nightmare! Pay attention to the signage in the parking lot, or you will get a wheel lock. We won't go back.

Service: Very slow to be waited on. It wasn't busy in the restaurant but it was very much a happening place around the marina. Our appetizer arrived before our drinks. The server was super nice but I think the bar was just slow. Ambiance: it is definitely a party vibe on the spring weekends. The music was so loud at the restaurant and then the boats also had their music blasting and it was sensory overload...but great for people watching if that is your thing. It was a nicely decorated and I would have loved to have chilled outside without the college spring break chaos. I shall try again... Food: We tried the "famous" crack chips. I loved the flavor of the candied jalapeños and I love kettle style chips. It was OK. I wasn't super impressed to hurry back to get them. The chicken sandwich was underwhelming. The chicken wasn't dry but the lack of everything else. Barely any white BBQ sauce and two pickles with no other accompaniment. It wasn't a juicy sandwich which made is flavorless and dry. Mac & Cheese was also flavorless. It looked great though. Brussels were undercooked but they were charred. The hush puppies were the only thing I would order again. They were good. Odd flavor pairing but it worked. I would recommend to order these. The drinks.... I would also stick with what you know. I wasn't impressed with their signature cocktails.

I've been here a few times and have been pleased every time. Service is impeccable, food has been delicious and the views are just outstanding. A great place to take your visitors from outta town, especially the park next door, which is a must.

Atmosphere is nice but menu is limited. Wanted sushi and could not get it cause they only serve it on the rooftop and they had a private party up there. I was very disappointed and had a hard time deciding on something from the menu because they had nothing exciting. They also would not turn the fans off on the porch and it was freezing. We probably will not be back. To many other good restaurants to choose from.

You come here for the sunset view and an opportunity to dine on the water. Not for the food. Sunsets has snazzy decor and very comfortable tables and booths. Service was alright; our server was helpful and efficient. Unfortunately, the food was mediocre at best. The pan seared grouper was disappointing -- more braised than seared. ...and it was served room temperature -- too cool. Over bland rice. I suspect our dishes were prepared and then sat for a while. Fresh oysters were very good, however.

Disappointing to say the least, service was totally lacking from greeter to bartender. Food was very expensive for what you got, basically won't be returning.

Horrible Service! We were told at the bar that someone would help us at a bar table. We waited for 15 minutes before asking a hosted...only for her to tell us that nobody would be serving at the table and we needed to go to the bar. Hostess was extremely rude!!!

I had the worst meal ever at Sunsets. I ordered the roasted oysters with garlic. You should take them off the menu immediately! They were dry like they opened them yesterday. I will never come back. Horrible!

Came here for Valentines Day with a group of girls and we all ordered the Valentines Day special - 2 glasses of champagne, 1 shared app, choice of soup or salad (2), 2 filet mignons with a shrimp and scallop risotto, and then dessert. Me and my friend decided to split the char siu beef fries as our app. The beef fries were so tasty - I would have never expected this combo and it's definitely given me ideas to try at home. The she crab soup was warm and comforting. My filet was tender and juicy and paired well with the creaminess/saltiness of the shrimp/scallop risotto. We ended our meal with the hummingbird cake which was reminiscent of a spiced carrot cake which I am a fan of! I would definitely come back again for dinner and try to sit out by the water. Our waitress was a treat, I believe her name was Gabby and she made our Galentines day dinner such a blast as well! Great little spot for dates or a special/casual eatery with friends and family.

Sunset slush, I love you. Apple butter hush puppies were delicious, and the nachos were soooo good for a midday lunch to share.
