I had the Fresca chicken bowl and it was amazing. Please keep this dish! It was so flavorful and very light in the perfect size for me! Going to Abuelo's never disappoints.

Yesterday was my 1st time eating at this establishment. I won’t be back. When walking in the front door, we were immediately met with a very foul odor, like a sewer smell. We were taken to the back of the restaurant, apparently to put distance from the front door and odor. The service was slow. The food mediocre. Forget the queso (which the waitress did). Doesn’t even taste like cheese. Tasted like it was poured out of a can and heated up. The booth we were seated in was not secured to the floor very well, and every time the person sitting behind me in the next booth got up, my seat would “rock.” The decor is nice tho.

First, I’d like to start by saying the service was exceptional. I didn’t get her name at the bar but she was on it. Very very attentive very quick. We had excellent drinks chips and salsa were perfect.What I didn’t like about it was the actual meal that we got very very salty. too salty almost like you’re trying to cover up some thing. not enough real flavor. cilantro was almost nonexistent.We had a rice bowl that was half salad half rice the rice was underwhelming not sure, but it was just not good. Beans were dry rice was dry chicken was dry salad was great .The final straw was when we got our bill. I always ask if they do a military discount because I typically give that additional money that I’ve saved back to the wait staff if they are exceptional. I’m not worried about a decrease in my bill to be honest. but when we asked, they replied they only do it for active duty militaryI appreciate that discount for our active military, but let’s be real. active duty military is less than one percent of the US population. additionally, the nearest base is more than two hours away. come on Abuelo’s do you really think that’s an attractor.My husband did 23 years in the military and and not even an appreciation for that at your restaurant. As a matter of fact, over 6% of the US population are veterans. It would be nice to see it go to veterans, active duty, and first responders.
We were disappointed. My husband got the Durango and I got the chicken chimichanga. The cheese deep is not the white queso and was not flavorful. All of It was bland. We had not eaten all day and were lookin forward to a good Mexican meal. This was definitely not it. The restaurant itself is big and nicely decorated but I would rather pay $60 for a delicious meal. Hopefully they will try to improve. The server was decent.

The food here is great! As a local I frequent Abuelos. I've yet to have a meal I did not like. The guacamole is superb! Great portions for the prices. Service is awesome! I wish I could remember our servers name. She was excellent! We were on our way to a concert and running short on time. And she put our order in right away. So we made it on time. There's lots of Mexican Restaurants around the beach but this is definitely in my top 3.

I cannot say it was a total waste of time. While the staff could use a bit more experience when dealing with customers, the food was great.Can't wait for the Suffolk location to open up.
Large Portions and Healthier Dinner Selections with a Variety of Dishes for Everyone at a moderate price point. You can still get a margarita or glass of wine in the $6.00 range without having to plan around happy hour. My favorite entree is their Sea Bass with Veggies in a Cream Sauce and it comes in under 600 calories! Other favorites are their Enchiladas plates.
