The City of Myrtle Beach bought this property, and gave short notice to vacate. I managed to eat here a couple of last times before their last day of business on May 30, 2022. They had been open since July 1984. It is unknown if Bodo's or some similar restaurant will be opened elsewhere by the family. The last meals were as great as always. It's a real shame for the beach to lose this one-of-a-kind restaurant.

In the words of Porky Pig. "That's all folks". It is now closed. Fortunately Old Cafe Vienna is still here. Thats where we go.

First time visit to this restaurant even though we have lived here for a long time. We are not major German food buffs but do enjoy an occasional brat fir a change of pace. My daughter was was talking about German history with my son, the history major. So we wanted to have German meal to go along with the conversation.Through Yelp we found this restaurant and gave it a try.The atmosphere was interesting with pictures, graffiti and license plates on the walls. If you have ever been to one of our River City Cafe hamburger restaurants here (they have great burgers!) you will understand the atmosphere. Our waitress was awesome and explained the various meals since we were relative newbies. We each ordered different meals so we can make our own sampling (see pics). All the food was terrific and the portions, generous. We spoke to a lady who checked on our table I believe was an owner. She said they have been here since 1984 and soon it may all end.The restaurant is located in the "old section" of the beach which is going through major changes. All the old buildings are being sold off by the owner and torn down. Then they plan to build modern, but boring, strip style storefronts as part of urban redevelopment, AKA profits over history . They don't know if they will try to open again somewhere after their hiatus.Another part of Myrtle Beach past will soon be gone.We plan to return soon before the shut down which I believe happens in a few months. So if you want to try out some delicious food, hurry on in.

I'm so sad they're closing but this is a delicious spot with fantastic staff and fun decor. The potato pancakes are brilliant and the red cabbage is some of the best I've had. I wish they'd bottle the champagne house dressing!

Very good German food. I had the sausage sampler, was delicious. It came with a salad and 2 sides. I had red cabbage and dumplings. This place is closing in around April 1 2022. GET THERE QUICK YOU'LL ENJOY IT.

This eclectic place is a must-visit in downtown Myrtle Beach! Just steps away from the Boardwalk, you are whisked away to an authentic German restaurant, with the chef/owner cooking family recipes from scratch. And learn a little history while you are there!

Food was ok. Ambience leaves much to be disired and location is not that great.

Awesome Authentic German Restaurant! We had a wonderful dinner from the pancakes to dessert! The locals in our family told us we had to go there. Next time we are bringing a pen to sign the wall. It was sooo good that we didn’t put down our forks to take photos. Add it to your list of places to dine in Myrtle Beach.

Beer signs in the windows, but they don't serve beer. And no signs at the door stating that it's BYOB. Waited fifteen minutes just to find this out, with only 4 tables with customers in the entire place. Horrible service. Will never go anywhere near this lying place again. Hate liars. Would rate negative stars if possible.

Reminded me of sitting in a small cafe in Frankfort. The food is great and the atmosphere takes you completely away from the touristy Myrtle scene. Bodo is in the kitchen and his sister is in the dining room. So glad I lucked into this experience.

Don't be taken back by the atmosphere. Bodo's is simply amazing. I recommend making reservations and letting them know you want potato pancakes. You won't be dissapointed.
