So disappointing! So dated and not clean (pictures speak for themselves). What is not pictured was the pack of camel cigarettes in the trash can and the pile of cocoa pebbles under the kitchen sink when we arrived to unit 2343/44. I totally understand you get what you pay for but we spent $4000/wk for a 2 bedroom. No maid service and no beach chair, towels, or umbrellas. The only reason I gave 2 stars was because the air conditioning in the room cranked despite being extremely hot and humid all week and the young happy waiter in the bar/restaurant was so very pleasant.

STAY AWAY! This could have possibly been the worst hotel that I have ever stayed at in my life. Our room was so gross - there is no way it was cleaned prior to our stay. Bathroom tub had a SOFTBALL size hole in it - like a hole (you could see down into the floor). Their response time took 3 days and they put flex tape over it. There was multiple pieces of chewed gum stuck to bathroom ceiling. My shower head was so low that I had to duck my head everytime that I used it. Our refrigerator leaked all over the floor for 5 days straight. The white leather couch was stained brown. Neither TV worked our entire stay. I went to the front desk every single day to see if they could transfer me into another room and they laughed and said "sorry we are sold out" - If we weren't with a large group - I would have been gone in about 2 minutes. If you think you are staying in a place that resembles the pictures that you see online you are sadly mistaken.

Our tower had its own small pool, which was nice. It was also nice to have two indoor pools to choose from when the rain started. The two main outdoor pools were small and not well maintained. What I really did not appreciate was the lack of courtesy from the staff: I called twice and left voicemail messages asking why I was charged a "damage protection fee." No hotel has any business charging this, especially when they are already nickel and diming the consumer with "Resort Charges" and "Access Charges." They are welcome to charge a security deposit and then refund me upon examination of the room but a non-refundable fee is outrageous. To this day, no one has returned my messages. I suppose they are thinking: "Hey, we successfully swindled him out of some money so why bother calling him back????" Anyway, I will never stay here again.

This place is disgusting! The carpet was stained, mold in the bathroom, sliding door would not lock. The beds had nasty sheets. The pictures are not up to date with what it is today. We only stayed 2 days out of the 5. Don't waste your time and money on this dump!

This hotel was absolutely disgusting. The place is not clean at all. The pictures are not what the rooms are like. Our bed sheets had not been changed, they had sand all in the sheets. The murphy bed had red/orange/brown color stains on them, the pull out couch beds mattress had nasty black stain on them as well. I had to go get new sheets for the beds myself and change them myself. (something your housekeeping should be doing but clearly failed) We had 2 microwaves and 2 mini fridges in our room, the one microwave would not stop running unless you unplugged it, and the one mini fridge was hot (yes it was plugged in, the temp was to the coldest it could go, and the bath tub was dirty. I found us a new hotel to go to for the rest of our stay and left ASAP!!! The hotel was really rude with me when I was trying to get my money back for the nights not staying since we were leaving, and they wouldnt compensate me for the night that we were there. I wish I didnt have to give this a star at all. DONT STAY HERE ITS NASTY!!!

Room 603- (a privately owned condo) was filthy. Our feet were black from all the dirt and grime on the floors. Bathrooms were so dusty around the molding and toilet paper holder. We had to go shopping to get supplies to clean everything. It’s Such a shame because it is a cute condo and after waiting years for a vacation it was really disappointing to walk into such a filthy room that I had to clean myself - also, The parking garage was horrendous- always full and very tight spaces- the additional parking garage same thing. The elevators were filthy and took a really long time every time. Hotel lobby was also so dirty - never saw anyone cleaning. I couldn’t wait to get home!

This resort was terrible. Rooms were outdated and not clean. Carpets Dirty and smelled. Appliances old. Front desk would not give give us towels. They told us to wash our own and buy detergent from the store there. Even when we asked to trade the used. Elevators were down most of the time. Long waits 20 minutes. Parking was terrible if you left in the evening u may not find a spot. The only thing the kids enjoyed was the lazy river. We won’t stay here again gross.

We have come to Sand Dunes every Memorial Day weekend for eight years. My daughter rents a condo at their sister property, the villas, and my husband and I stay at Sand Dunes. We used to love it here and we are so sad that they’ve made so many changes. The island vibe is gone. They’ve replaced all of the long time employees with new people who are less friendly, less helpful and less clean. The towels were dirty. Trash wasn’t emptied for days. And the staff didn’t even say hello. The pool wasn’t clean. The whole experience changed tremendously. We will be finding another place to stay next year.

So dirty that it was difficult to sleep and feel comfortable. The smell was awful! Being on the beach doesn’t justify for the poor cleaning and mold smells and old food. The pictures are not even close to the reality. Disgusting!

This place exceeded my expectations. The room was clean when we got there and had an amazing view. The main pool was cold; however, the lazy river and water park were heated and worth it. It was easy to check in and out and we had great luck with parking there. The price was right and it is family friendly! My only complaint is that coffee is not provided in the lobby.

We did an Airbnb 1 bedroom condo on the fourth floor. We could hear kids from indoor pool on 3rd floor. The room was noisy. Right outside was ac units on the roof. It was so small and the furniture was from the 80’s. The sofa was so worn the material was torn. There was a metal chair in living room. No place to eat except the small coffee table. Beds weren’t comfortable and we put extra pillows on sofa. The condo was gross!! Although clean I wouldn’t stay here again. Don’t let pictures fool you! It was a 80’s flash back. This place is so small! I went on a girls trip here with a friend and we made the best of it. Couldn’t lay by the pool there were only about 12 chairs for this mega big place. Parking was also a huge issue. Spots were so small. Had trouble getting in them and out of them. If you have kids take a lot of money for game room , pizza place, ice cream shop.

Love that it’s away from most of the crowd but it’s old and needs repair but it’s the employees and management the owners need to repair and then it’s a very nice resort when you haven’t had a towel in a few days you go buy them and still haven’t had a towel from this resort as we’re about to leave

This stay was absolutely the most horrific stay that we have ever had on Myrtle Beach! First, we were told that the rooms were sold out. After a brief hold, we were told that a room had become available. After arriving, we were told that the room was in the next block on 75th ave in Tower 1 (was not told this during booking) After driving back and forth looking for a Sand Dunes Tower 1, we decided to call back to front office. We were then told that the Tower has a different name from Sand Dunes, and we were booked in Tower 2. Finally, after finding the room, it was a disaster! If it wasn’t so late and my elderly parents weren’t so tired, we would’ve left. The photos below will show you that this room was not fit to be rented to anyone. Please just look at the photos….this room was absolutely HORRIBLE! Dirty…dirty…dirty walls in every room. Rust on bathroom fixtures. Light fixtures hanging from the ceiling. Damaged, ran down, thrift store looking furniture. TV just sitting on coffee table pushed by the wall. Damaged blinds (forgot to take a photo). Missing toilet roll holder. Paint stored under bathroom sink. Dirty bathroom floors. Exposed wiring. Incomplete repairs in several places. Then….to add to the misery, we drove to the front desk to ask for more towels and sheets for the pull out bed (because there was not phone in the room that we could find), we were told that we couldn’t have any because housekeeping was closed. So were couldn’t even use one of the beds, because it didn’t have any covering. OMG! We went to the Walmart and bought a couple of blankets and some cleaning supplies to make my parents more comfortable. But truly, we did not sleep at all. I felt so bad for my parents. Ive looked on the website for a contact email, there is not one listed. I’v e called the front desk, and was hung up on twice…seemingly a bad connection. But I am still going to try and reach someone directly. This unit is not fit to be rented…and should be inspected by a Heath and Safety Department as well as the Fire Department.

We can honestly say that I would not recommend that anyone even remotely consider staying here. The front desk staff were extremely rude and condescending. The room they put us in had no hot water, and the poor engineer that was EVENTUALLY sent to help us was told not to use his speakerphone around us. They did move us, but the new room had; a broken front door and a razor sharp piece of metal. We found out that they had sent someone into the room to remove it. WITHOUT LETTING US KNOW. The fee was jewelry and electronics out in plain view.

I have been told to always lead with a compliment so... Lovely views of the ocean. We have been here before and were displeased but we travel with a group that holds its convention there. Well, not there but next door because none of the group facilities in this hotel itself are open. They charge $15 a day for "resort services" of which none were open. Heck, this place doesn't even provide basic hotel services. The room was, as in the past, filthy and there was no housekeeping available, even once, in our five day stay. When you have a group, how about hiring a housekeeper for half a day half-way through their stay for that block of rooms? When we tried to turn in our dirty towels at the desk, we were told to bring them back upstairs and try again later (presumably after that clerk's shift had ended so someone else could be bothered to do it. When we asked for a roll of toilet paper after four days, we were told to go buy one at a convenience store. When our group rep asked the manager about this, he confirmed that those are the instructions given to the desk clerks. If you stay here, bring your own TP and soap! Finally, for an area that caters to seniors, this place is unaccommodating. Both my wife and I are handicapped and we asked for a room close to the elevators when we reserved - needless to say we got the farthest room possible. There are three handicapped parking spaces for the whole place. Even if our group returns, we will stay somewhere else and recommend that you do too.
