Steven W's Downtown Bistro

Fantastic! Unfortunately, this was Steven W's last night. Steve is retiring. Food and service was fabulous! Soft shelled crab in browned butter and capers, crispy flounder with apricot sauce, and the almond basket for dessert. I've followed Steve since he was the head chef at Garibaldi's years ago and he has never served a bad meal. Congratulations on your retirement, my friend! You've earned it, but you will be missed!

When we arrived at the restaurant, we were promptly greeted by a very friendly waitress opening the door for us urging us to come in out of the rain. She seated us right away. The restaurant's décor and atmosphere were very warm and inviting with lovely white, antique, tin ceilings, wood floors and perfectly set tables. My husband and I had tickets to a show at the Newberry Opera House and stumbled upon this restaurant for drinks and a snack. We didn't expect to have a full dinner, drinks and dessert less than 2 hours before the show. The staff accommodated us even though we didn't have a reservation and Candy, our server was so kind and quick! I got the halibut special and my husband got the salmon.
