Ordered takeout from here and was beyond disappointed. I recommend going elsewhere for Mexican food unless you're into paying $16+ per entree to receive a burrito the size of a taco bell soft taco along with a ton of rice and beans. Taste was mediocre at best.

I've always liked this place for the food and drink specials. But after not going there for a while I went back last week and it's even better! There is new Management now, new drink specials, and more help. It's like they kept everything good about the place and made a ton of improvements and all the areas they needed to! I highly recommend this restaurant.

Walked in at 750 (didn't notice note stating closing early on door) manager (maybe owner ?) let me and my husband know that she was closing at 8 due to her having a migraine ... but still offered us a chance to get our order to go, made me so happy! I'm pretty sure at that point the grills had been cleaned, food put away, etc. (the place was spotless basically) but manager/owner assured us it was no problem. Our food was ready in less than 10 minutes and was DELICIOUS! We'll definitely be back to enjoy the atmosphere!

We stumbled across Mata's some time ago and let me tell you, we have never had a bad experience here. Service is great, the food is very tasty and the portions are above what you'd expect. The atmosphere is perfect, also. They serve this white salsa type dip with the regular salsa and it is to die for , the only issue I'd have with Mata's is sometimes, if you go late. They might be out of the white salsa. Hands down best Mexican food in Spartanburg!!
It was cold inside and there was no music. When was the last time you went to a Mexican restaurant that had no music or life to it?Also the food had no spice. I got the quesadilla and the best had no seasoning. Not even salt.The server was very nice, but our drink refills were not bright until we were done with our meals. As we were 1 of 3 tables in the restaurant, I'm not sure why that was.I would have rather spent more per person and had better food.

Came in today and was pretty dead probably cuz of the weather but the food is wonderful ordered 3 soft tacos and it came with chips and dip salsa and refried beans all was just $20 including tip its great :)
