Well, away we go. Small place right beside a gas station. Dine in or carry out. Service was fast with a big smile and Southern charm. I got the large dinner, and my wife ordered the small. Perfect rice covered in red hash. Perfectly seasoned. Very good. Pork was very tender with good smoky flavor. Small cup of sauce on the side, just a dash, and it was awesome. The Cole slaw was very tasty. The hushpuppies were great. Brewed sweet tea was the finishing touch, Chef's kiss! I was full as the portions are a good value. My wife took the rest of hers back to the cabin. As we ate on this rainy Friday evening, nearly a dozen locals stopped by for take out dinner. If you pass through this area or stay at Poinsett State Park, drop by, and you won't be disappointed!

Ward's BBQ is a staple in Sumter, it has been the go-to place for BBQ since I was a child and I am 44 years old! The BBQ is great but it is the hash and rice that keep people coming back for more!in all of the state, there is no hash and rice that is even comparable!

I go to Wards BBQ on Pinewood road when I come to Sumter. All the BBQ in Sumter is vinegar. I don't like it. But at Wards BBQ I love the BBQ. The older man said they have the best hash over anyone else. I agree. Love the big dinners. It's a lot. Last Saturday night they didn't have any Banana pudding. I said it's Saturday night. Should have it. I like the ladies who work there Wards BBQ is my Go To Restaurant.

This place has a sign on the door that if your not vaccinated you should wear a mask inside. the masked morons scare me. Theyre shedding the virus and they are much more likely to be infected than the unvaccinated or people who have already had the virus. Hospitals are filling up with the vaccinated. I went into another wards early in the year and the woman asked me three times if i wanted a mask. I cursed and left, After the first time she should have shut up about it. They probably have a statue of the Knome God Fauci in the back they worship.
Every time I go to one no matter the location they never have any meats. sold out someone needs to get ahold of the business and do better or change the name to pull pork and hash.
