Terrible service!!! Bartender disappeared for long stretches.We have been an owner of a place in Garden City for over 30 years (we walk here often). Prior to that, I have been coming to Surfside/Garden City Beach since the 60s. I had my first beer here. I had my first kiss here (not at this particular bar, but in Surfside).On this visit, we just wanted to pop in and get a well-made drink. Nothing fancy. We don’t like all the silly girly drinks. We certainly don’t want anything blended! Just a good well-balanced rum or tequila drink. it was a nice night. A little breezy. Off-season.We expected some regulars in a not so -busy-bar. I told the bartender that I wanted a little something strong (we’d been driving all day and were struggling with some bad news and I just wanted a little something to take the edge off) and she said “just do a shot.“ I told her I could do a shot back at the house and that I wanted something else, and she kept just saying “do a shot.” There was a person at the end of the bar that she was very actively flirting with, and they were in some sort of drama. He would leave and she would leave for long stretches at a time, leaving the bar completely abandoned. 10 minutes. 15 minutes. He was clearly drunk, and she was not kicking him out, just touching him and flirting with him while a line of people waited for drinks.Not a very good experience.Still, it was a lovely night outside, so we took our drinks and sat out on the porch.

They weren't serving food when we were there, so we had chips and bevs, and loved this place. It had the best close up view of the ocean than any place we went - right on the other side of the window where we were sitting. As customers came in many seemed to know each other and they were friendly to all us newcomers! The bartender, Aime, was the greatest...very personable, attentive...over the top Plus she makes great bevs...my favorite being the margarita with her concoction with a dash of sprite - not too sour, not too sweet, and the smoothest ever! It's without a doubt the most perfect, best margarita I've ever had. And, in our 70 years of life, we've had zillions of different margaritas. My friend and I just stopped in for lunch. We had the soft pretzels and the smoked ring pizza. It was so awesome. The bartender Shane was so nice and quick. They have an outside area also which is shaded. Great food and friendly staff. I'm glad we decided to try something new today. We will be back for sure.
The bartender denied to serve my friend drinks because she was “whiter in the picture than she was in real life”. 1) We are at vacation on beach where people tan 2) She didn’t attempt to scan the card or anything claiming she’s “seen this scheme before” and simply denies service because she was darker than her picture 3) Was said in a very demeaning tone which was surprising as this bartender was relatively nice to us prior to that situationHer words exactly: “that girl is white; it’s not you”I don’t know her exact name but she had long black hair (in a ponytail), wearing a white tank top with shorts.Working the night of Wednesday July 19th, 2023. Between 8:30 - 9:00 pmWhat she said was very hurtful to not only my friend but to the rest of us there. Please take this into deep consideration and address it as it was very troubling to us and our entire night.

Gave card to use for running tab, at the end paid cash. My card was charged 3 times. No one answers phone! Bank won't do anything until pending charges are done. Not cool!

Small dive but the view is amazing and the drinks are good. Parking is limited and so is the seating. The wait staff was friendly and attentive. They had a DJ but the music was hit and miss.
