Been coming here for over 20 years. My family always orders guac dip, cheese dip, and for the main attraction, the pollo fundido. Never had a bad visit and the dishes listed have always been great.

My wife and i popped in here for margaritas and some food. When we recieved the maegaritas they were honestly terrible. Taste like they were 100% made from a cheap margarita mix. You would expect from these reviews that it would have been better.Got the cheese dip as well. That was tasty. Service was good and the atmosphere was pretty nice.Not sure if im being overly critical but i feel like throwing some agave nectar, lime juice and tequila into a shaker and mixing it up isnt too much to ask from such a well reviewed mexican restaurant

I went to El Matador on March 2nd 2024 with a friend to celebrate her birthday. We had reservations for 6:00 pm. While waiting on a table we sat at the bar wanted to have a drink until ready. There wasn't anyone there working at the bar. After being seated we ordered a margarita from the top shelf. The waitress said that she was new and only 19 yrs. old so she couldn't make us one. We placed our order. I paid for it. The waitress brought the bill out with the credit card reader. I really didn't look at it just place my credit card in. She didn't give me a custom copy. I left a 18% tip. I checked my credit card the next day and found out that I was overcharged. My order was 2 margaritas from top shelf, 1 beer, 1cheese dip, and 1 chicken fundido dinner to split. My credit card was charged $84.16 didn't match up with the prices. I got intouch with the owner he told me himself that it didn't and said that he would check into it and get intouch with me the next day. I still haven't heard back. I will never go back. I was overcharged and lied to. It's hard to find honest people anymore. From here on out I will definitely check my bill before placing my credit card. I will not trust anyone.

We've driven past this place for years and have always wanted to try it. The atmosphere was fun, a nice homey feel. That said, the service was extremely slow, despite the place being mostly empty, the salsa was cold, the margarita was mediocre, the taco was dry and flavorless, the fajitas weren't hot, and we had to send our cheese dip back to be warmed up.Overall, might be fine for an after work beer but other than that I'd go somewhere else.

It’s been a couple of years since I’ve been here and use to dine here often. Although my family always went for the one of a kind chili relleno but I never cared for them. They make theirs with a breading and a lot of yellow cheese. It’s like a big puff ball of pepper, cheese and breading deep fried. Not for me. But all of my family always ordered them. I went for the combo #14. Burrito, enchilada and beef taco. Best enchilada I’ve ever had! And the burrito had big chunks of high quality ground beef and the most delicious sauce with large slices of cooked onions! YUMMY! I also asked for the super hot ( not served at the table when you walk in) salsa and I’m here to tell you, I love a great salsa with a lot of kick! THIS IS IT! And this salsa stays with you! Has the best flavor!Try this place but expect a wait. It’s always packed!Parking: There is a lot next door within a short walk over a sidewalk. ✅
