We stayed in lucky #13, it was a great experience. The camp hosts Jim and June were absolutely awesome they went out of their way to help us. The campsite is nice and quiet and the path to the creek is across the road and the bathroom is one site away. The helicopters were barely noticable. And wood is really available along with water. We had a blast and it was an excellent experience for us all. The camp hosts were the best part of our experience they were just great and were very knowledgeable about the area. We just loved everything about the whole experience. Always,The Rock Girls

Didn't camp here, but explored the campsite. It's tent-only. Sites are pretty close to each other, so don't go expecting privacy. Nice wooded area and location convenient to Mt. Rushmore. I'd camp here, but I wouldn't take small kids or dogs. Several of the first-come, first-serve sites were open (weekday during the Sturgis rally).

For $26 a night you can have helicopters flying over every 15 minutes neighbors right on top of you and vault toilets that are in terrible shape.

I camped here for 4 nights. The Camp Host, Jim was great. Site #5 has the sound of a creek. Centrally located to Mt. Rushmore, Keystone, Custer State Park, the City of Custer and Crazy Horse Memorial. I think Crazy Horse is a MUST see! The camp ground has no electric and has vault toilets. I had some AT&T phone coverage. There is a regular flyover of helicopters, so if you are looking for day time peace and quiet this is not the place. Though I'm not sure there is a camp ground near Rushmore where you would not hear helicopters during the day.

First thing we did when we got to the campground was go and talk to the host. He put his dog on a leash when my boyfriend walked up to talk to him. Later he came by our campground and our dogs were laying down and he told us they had to be on leashes, even though his dog was not on one. He was extremely rude when telling us this and threatened to make us leave. The bathrooms were terrible. I have never smelt any bathroom of that kind that bad. No one in our group could go in without throwing up. (no exaggeration) I do not recommend camping here.

Off beat type campground. No pull trailers allowed. Clean pit toilets. Small rv to 24ft. Allowed. Hosts are seasoned and helpful. Have a cute golden retriever and goldfish brought out from new Hampshire. Limited cell. Dry Firewood $8

Great campground - beautiful, peaceful, and great hosts. There is plenty of space to spread out, and the babbling of grizzly creek itself makes for a wonderful nights sleep. Can't beat it's location either!

Absolute incredible experience! The hosts were some the kindest people we have met along our travels. They found us a site that was available when we didn’t have a reservation, and had some incredible stories about their travels and experiences. Very knowledgeable about the area and places to visit. They had a supply of firewood for sale as well which was super helpful. The camp was well kept and the restroom facilities were super clean and did not have any lingering odors. The camp itself was beautiful, surrounded by forest, a stream and a giant rock wall with a trail. We are so glad we chose to come to Gizzly Creek, and will stay again!

I came here late September 2020. Barebones and basic, which is exactly how I prefer my campsites. The road can be a bit noisy, but the bubbling of the creek is an absolutely lovely way to fall asleep. Guy who ran the campsite was friendly, helpful, and gave us some great ideas for things to do in the area.

This review is long overdue. I came BACK to Grizzly Creek simply because the campsite is beautiful. My wife and I met a close friend there on our engagement trip years ago.Truly an escape for those who are ready to hunker down for a couple nights in a primitive set up, but not so far away from any amenities or resources you may need. That being said my only "complaint" would be the Rushmore helicopter tours. The hosts are stellar. Rob and Katie were there last I visited in May '22. They have firewood if you need it and will welcome you with neighborly delight. Also they keep the place so tidy I barely got dirt on my slides. If you've got a hammock, hike up the hill a little ways and catch some z's as you sway in the breeze.

Simple, quiet and clean. I can see how people can complain during the summer with the helicopters, but we came late in the season. The lady that checks you in is very kind! Camping sites by the creek is nice. The price is half off if you have a national parks pass.

Beautiful place and awesome drive. The only deal is the camp grounds are closed during the winter time. There is off grid camping area you can go with no fees at all. It was a 15 minute drive to the off grid camping area from this spot
