The variety of ingredients are very limited, so expensive for the type of food it is and the worse In the short time we were there we saw 2 cockroaches and the cockroach smell is strong.

I love the food everytime. My favorite meal is the Mongolian beef. I get it at lunchtime which is 11 to 3:30 PM. The meals are $11 with rice included. Fried rice is four dollars. When I eat around lunchtime here it’s never too busy. It is a good quiet environment to sit down and eat. The water cups are huge so you don’t have to wait to get a refill right away. The only thing about the service is the person as the server only sits up front which is completely okay. I think that’s so they can greet customers right away.

The food was delicious! I do wish they had a wider variety of selections but what they had was nice. The employees don't speak much English but they were nice. No one offered to refill our broth but it was perfect since there was only 2 of us. Their special sauces and their BBQ sauce is a bit too salty. For two of us, it was only $70. I would definitely come back again!

$28 a person plus 15% tip for serving myself is ridiculous. Won’t be back.

Preface - this was my first time trying hot pot. I am also from Illinois, but I am visiting my wife's family for the holidays.I stopped in for lunch (12PM) while my wife visited Creative Beauty Studio a few doors down in the mall. The restaurant was empty, but I was immediately greeted and seated. My waiter was very attentive with my drink order and quickly prepared my 1/2 regular, 1/2 spicy hot pot. I made my own dipping sauce with hot chili oil mixed with sesame and peanut butter, and I also tried the non-spicy house sauce. The selection of meats, seafood, vegetables, mushrooms, dumplings, and noodles was impressive. Everything I tried was quick to prepare and absolutely delicious. I preferred the spicy broth, but the regular was also fantastic. In total, I spent about 1 hour on lunch and my bill totaled just under $30.I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone regardless of if you are a local or just visiting. I think it would be nearly impossible not to find something you enjoy and/or to walk out of the restaurant still hungry.Vegetarian options: Good selection of mushrooms, veggies, and noodles to choose from.Dietary restrictions: The restaurant is upfront about potential nut allergens present in their sauces.

Ordered the pork rib winter melon soup. It couple time for them to get my order because the person who took my order couldn’t understand what I was trying to order. Went to pick up my order and got it to my place and found out that the lid wasn’t all the way close, so most of my soup was spilled out. The soup tasted good but very little pork rib and they are small.

First, order off the menu! Do NOT get the all you can eat sushi or all you can eat Hot Pot Buffet, you will be disappointed for overpaying and a poor quality meal. The good: Lunch menu items on the menu are great and reasonably priced. Around $12 for a large portion. The great: Smashed cucumbers are absolutely amazing I think. I also like the pork ear in chili oil. I know, seems strange, but they are both very tasty. Asa to all of the 1 star reviews, notice that they are for the all you can eat hot pot buffet and the all you can eat sushi. Stick with the menu, you'll be happy.

I recently had a terrible dining experience at Lao Szechuan that I want to warn others about. My wife, children, and I went there to celebrate a special occasion. However, it was not great at all.Right away, we noticed the lack of atmosphere. There was no background music or nice décor to speak of. The place felt empty and unwelcoming. But I thought, no matter, as long as the food is good. Well, that turned out to be far from the truth. We opted for the hot pot "buffet," which sounded fun since you cook the ingredients at your table. However, the selection of items was very limited and mostly still frozen. The place also had a strange smell and flies buzzing around - not very appetizing. My 12 year old daughter ate next to nothing, but she was too old for the children's discount. For the four of us, the bill came to a whopping $150 - that's $28 per person. Fine. But then you add taxes and a mandatory 15% tip (even though all the server did was bing out the pot, refill two drinks, and pick up the check). To eat there you get all the ingredients yourself from the coolers. They also have signs threatening to charge you $12 per pound for any "wasted food." Not very nice. Plus they warn that you can only stay 2 hours. Makes sense, but I can't imagine anyone staying too long there. The excessive bill might be understandable if the food, service and atmosphere were any good. But everything about Lao Szechuan was mediocre at best. I advise going anywhere else if you want a pleasant dining experience. Don't make the mistake we did of wasting time and money here!

This was an interesting eating experience. I have never done a hot pot place before, and this restaurant's first impression wasn't great. When I first walked in, the place looked a little run down and questionably clean. The thought of lots of raw ingredients including meats arranged in a way that could result in cross contamination worries me. The induction burners worked really well. And the broth was good. But when I went to add sauces, most were separated, chunky, and probably not as fresh as they should have been. Overall it was a fun experience, but an expensive one that I probably won't repeat.
