“Welcome to the Dakotas, where your main restaurants are also bars. It is important that everyone realizes this reality.My wife and I went in March 2024 and I didn’t know what to expect. My expectations were blown away. I almost cried at how good the steak was that I ate at Badlands Saloon. Seriously one of the best steaks I have had in a while.I received a salad with my steak, which my wife and I shared. My wife is a pescatarian, which made it 50/50 on rather she was going to be able to eat….vegetarians will find it difficult in the Dakotas. She ordered, and enjoyed, the Fish n Chips. I am very grateful this was an option.The service was wonderful, friendly, and fast. The restaurant was clean and inviting. For me the rating on google did not reflect our experience. This visit with that steak, and their service, is definitely a 5.0. Lord willing, we will make it back to Wall one summer day. If that day comes, I will be eating at Badlands Saloon & Grille again.Vegetarian options: I believe the only options vegetarians will have is the cheese or veggie pizza. However, the day my wife and I dined, they were not offering pizzas. Fortunately, my wife is a pescatarian, so she ordered three Fish n Chips Special.“
“It was off-season and mainly we stopped for lunch. The cafe is like a machine and we didn't have to wait long for our food. It's a pretty basic menu, but that's part of their secret. We had the crispy chicken sandwich and the beef hot dog, both came with fries and I think a pickle. Both were good and the hot dog was pretty big. It wasn't crowded so we had dessert of donuts and coffee. The donuts were better than we expected and the coffee was great especially for 5 cents. It's worth a visit if you're in the area, even if you don't eat there or buy anything.“
“This was day 2 of our 4 day cross country drive. Stopped in Wall for gas and decided to eat dinner here. Went to the Red Rock and so glad we did. Actually our third time over the last couple of yrs and outstanding every time. My wife and I each had the broasted chicken. Absolutely perfect. Our server was on day 4 of the job. You never would have known it. She did such a good job and her attentiveness was particularly noteworthy. Ken, the owner came out to say hello. He's a fellow vet and we had a great conversation.If you are looking for a low key place to eat or have a beer, along with friendly folks, tasty food and great service this place is it. Being Veteran owned was an added plus. Will definitely be back our next time through.“
