“As a tourist from out of state I didn't know what to expect going to this small quaint restaurant. However, once I stepped inside I knew, I was home. Immediately I was awestruck by my surroundings, the shelf of porcelain, comfortable chairs and seats, even the plastic plants in the corner. Truly the indomitable spirit of Grandma was present today. as I took my seat I opened the menu to gazed upon what can only be described as scripture. Waffles, omelets, biscuits with gravy and the masterpiece to attest to Grandma's benevolence, pancakes. While looking over the plethora of option, I felt quite parched, taking a several greedy sips of water I finished it in several seconds. However, In an instant it was filled again. This was the work of one of Grandma's messengers, a kind waitress who made sure we were well taken care of, one of Grandma's finest. In a moment of inspiration I ordered banana pancakes and split biscuits and gravy with a friend. Not 7 minutes later our groups full order arrived, and with it my salvation. I do not remember eating the pancakes. In an instant my plate was empty, but I will carry the memory with me forever. Fluffy pancakes topped with elegantly placed banana slices adjourned with a coating of maple syrup and a think sprinkle of powdered sugar. In that moment, on heaven and earth I stood alone the hungry one. It only took one bite, one bite to open my eyes. I was sitting in a small restaurant in Tennessee, yet I found myself back at Grandma's house, eating her pancakes on a Sunday morning, when the world was still young and innocent to me. I am home. When I awoke form my trance, life continued to move again. But the connection still lingered. I wanted more, I needed to understand the true nature of Grandma's pancakes. In my lap now sits a stack of 3 banana pancakes in to go box, with my true in hand I will spread the good word of Grandma and her delicious morning meals.
