Mt. McCloud use to e a beautiful place to have dinner and walk around the grounds for the beautiful sunsets and scenery. Now, since the restaurant closed they are charging $100.00 to go up there for the views. Four years ago my son's first date with his girlfriend he wanted to take her back up there to propose and the only way they would let him up there ( they have a guard at entrance to mountain) was to charge him $100 for 10 minutes of propose, nothing special but to get on one knee. Unbelievable, for that money they could have had a photographer taking pictures for them, but nothing like that did they offer, $100 for ten minutes of a view. It used to be a nice place to go, so different now.

I stayed here with my husband on vacation. The rooms were so clean. The cleaning woman went above and beyond for us making sure to leave her card just in case we needed something. She was so sweet. She definitely deserved her tip. The view from our room was breath taking, as well as all the other views you could drive to. We will definitely be staying again!Don't forget to tip the cleaning woman!

We wanted to get married here so badly but the woman taking reservations for events was clearly working another job and had no idea of pricing or available booking , took weeks to get back to us . There was no direct number to speak with her we had to leave our number and hope for a call back. its really sad to see a awesome location ruined this way hopefully new management is coming soon...

Careful, they only do breakfast via room service, no lunch or dinner service to the room so don't plan on a romantic weekend here and not having to leave the room.Food & drinks: Limited, breakfast only.

I grew up in this area and have only ever eaten at the McCloud Mtn. Restaurant over the years, which was always excellent. Unfortunately, the restaurant was closed, hopefully not permanently, but for the season. I had previously expressed my desire to stay at the lodge, so my husband thought it would be a nice treat to stay here while visiting nearby family for Thanksgiving. I was ecstatic to finally stay at the lodge! We arrived Friday night, a little later than expected, but the security guard was still there waiting for us. He was friendly and extremely helpful. It was nice to be in a gated community, and I believe we were the only guest Friday night. Our suite was notably clean and comfortable. The jacuzzi tub was a little odd in the bedroom, but to each his own. They provide most amenities for the stay. Towels, soap, and a few kitchen essentials. The room did not have a microwave, only a toaster oven, but no foil to cook on. I also thought paper towels would've been practical to offer in the kitchenette. They also offered a few beverages and snacks in the refrigerator, which was a nice touch. We had a wonderful stay, but if I had any negatives from it would be that I could not turn the floor heater on in the bathroom, which isn't a deal breaker. The shower could use a nicer shower head. This seemed like a cheap replacement shower head, whereas everything else about the resort was modern and upscale. Also, when we turned the fireplace on, our room filled with what smelled like sulfur; to the point where we decided to turn it off, and air out our room by opening the sliding glass door. I hope this wasn't caused by a gas leak, but we weren't taking any chances. We reported it to the staff via text. They do have central heating & air, so this wasn't our only source of heat.I can't say the cost justified the stay considering the size and limitations. It is a little bit of a trek to get there, but well worth it in my opinion. The best part of the stay was the breathtaking views of the valley, mountains, and lakes from our room. The private deck had a table, & chairs, along with a privacy wall, which was a nice touch. We had a king size bed, with luxury bedding. I have even looked for the same down pillows for my bed since staying here. The sitting area was comfortable with 2 large recliners. The T.V was substantial, and offered both Christmas movies, and the TN football game. We were happy campers! We stopped at Dominos on our way there, and the next morning we were looking for a biscuit from one of the convenience stores nearby, but the B&B Market at the end of the resort road only took cash, and they do not have an ATM. We were heading further up the mountain, not into town, so I figured the corner store in White Oak would have breakfast, unfortunately they claimed the kitchen was closed on the weekends. Seems to me that would be the time to have it open. This is not a reflection of McCloud Mtn., but for guest anticipating something to eat in the area, be aware you will likely have to go into Lafollette, which I believe is only 11 miles or so. I hope to return for more enjoyable stays in the future. Perhaps if they allowed a 1 night stay it would be easier on the budget, because as it is these rooms were on the pricey side.

Absolutely magical. It was even better with the restaurant closed. We had the mountains completely to ourselves. Unlike a crowded visit to the smokies. The room was gorgeous and a small kitchen was perfect. Can’t recommend this enough if your looking for peace and quiet with a priceless view. The restaurants in town were delish. Really wish we could have stayed longer.

We would have loved to experience the beautiful scenery, but the restaurant was closed and I already had lodging on Norris Lake. What a shame that an alternative option is not available. Disappointed family fron KY.

We booked a stay at the end of March and unbelievably we were told we were the first hotel guests of the year. They also mentioned we were the only guests that night and as a horror movie fan- it made me a little uneasy. The hotel staff called us a couple of times to verify our arrival time to make sure they had our room ready and security would be there to let us in (we felt oh so important). We started up the mountain and after a little way up we stopped to check in with security, a super nice guy who just had us fill out our paperwork and let us know our room would be open for us. We continued up the mountain but stopped frequently to take in the amazing views the altitude allowed. There are lots of spots to stop and sit or stand in awe of the beauty surrounding you. The Sasquatch cut out hidden in the woods was a bonus too! The room was just as amazing as the view. It felt like a little home and the bed was delightfully cozy. Our fridge had some beverages in it to enjoy during our stay as well which I really appreciated! The soaking tub was magnificent and the balcony is magical. We spent the majority of our time sitting on the balcony with some wine and enjoying the most amazing view of the valley below, it was our favorite part of the trip. The only downside was that the restaurant wasn't open during the year we went and there wasn't anything real close by to grab a quick bite. Ultimately we decided we enjoyed the room so much we didn't want to leave to find something to eat and just enjoyed the snacks we brought with us. All in all this place is amazing. I couldn't believe we were the first visitors because the view from this mountain is incredible. I hope they get their restaurant back up and running because I would love to return.

A diamond in the rough! And I mean ROUGH! Oh what this place could be... a makeover, updates and a knowledgeable staff plus the view .. it would be a goldmine.. unfortunately none of that has happened .... Unless an investor steps up to plate and saves this place ... I can't see it surviving . Not worth the drive up ! If you could see the cleanliness of the kitchen you'd understand

The grounds are beautiful and the view is stunning. We have eaten in the restaurant and were planning a trip back this summer. When I checked the website it says the restaurant is closed for the 2022 season. Sad, we were really looking forward to going.
