Last time I was here was in the late 1970s. It was great. Looks like it still is. The program made me pick a date but it's decades off.

Ours son's girlfriend gave us a gift card to the Peerless for Christmas in 2019. At the time they were told that there could be a temporary delay due to remodeling. They were scheduled to reopen April-May of 2020. When they didn't reopen we called and left numerous messages and requested a call back with no response. I finally got in touch via email on August 12, 2021 requesting a refund. Their response is below. Hello and Thank You for reaching out, We have not received any messages about this issue. Unfortunately, there are no refunds on the gift cards, but you will be able to use them once we are reopened for a limited time (time has yet to be decided). Upon purchasing Holiday Gift Cards, the purchaser was handed a printed card to read that stated there was change coming to the restaurant and that no refund would be given. We look forward to serving you in the future. Bests, Demetri Kalogeros Don't waste your money with a restaurant

Heard good things about this place. Tried it last year before COVID. Blandest plate of food I'd ever had.

This family-owned restaurant has been in business 82 years. After closing in January 2020 for remodeling and expansion, it is scheduled for a May 25, 2020 opening as Peerless Steakhouse Grill. The new restaurant is slated to feature a whiskey and wine bar with private event rooms, a bakery and tavern. Our family have been patrons of this restaurant for over 35 years and look forward to experiencing the new venue.

The Peerless has been an institution in upper East Tn for generations. When you have the name "Peerless" on your doors you have made your customer's expectations sky high. The Peerless is a business trading on a tradition built 50 years ago. The service was horrible. You get better service at the Waffle House. We were seated in an are the had a burnt out overhead light and we had to use a cellphone flashlight to read the menu. We had two strips, baked potatoes and salads and the bill was $85. The salad was very good and the bread was good but not spetacular. The steaks were lacking flavor and cooked right but nothing better than the butcher can cut you one for at Food City. Longhorns and Logan's have much better steaks and much better service along with a SIGNICANTLY lower price. It's a shame to see such a landmark decline but they will stay open as long as their senior citizen clientele, that remembers the great glory days, lives.

Probably one of the worst restaurants in JC, the beauty of it is they have pulling the wool over the eyes of JC residents for years. People that live here were so lacking for descent restaurants that this Greek joint made the high light reel. There second restaurant in a larger venue (Knoxville) fell short and is a bust. If you have no idea what good food is (especially steak), this is you're joint!! But any teenager on a Weber can blow away any steak coming out of this kitchen!! My hats off to the owners, for making fools of JC's residents!!

Went for our anniversary tonight and was so disappointed. We ordered prime rib, baked potato. The potatoes were still hard and cold. My husband's prime rib had more fat than meat fat than meat. Very little flavor. Grecian salad was good.

What happened to The Peerless?? Used to be the BEST in town. Went for our anniversary tonight and was so disappointed. We ordered prime rib and baked potatoes. The potatoes were still hard and cold. Soft butter did not melt. Prime rib had very little flavor and my husband's prime rib had more fat than meat. The Grecian salad was good. Been going there since I was a little girl but will probably be my last time. I have had friends saying they were disappointed with the quality of food, I overlooked their comments. Wish I would have listened and had a better dining experience on my anniversary. Thanks for tbe memories.

8 friends, all but one got the hamburgers and potatoes. They were all satisfied. We all ate every morsel. No complaints.

Great old school steak house. Tremendous personal service. Great food. This was my father's favorite restaurant when he lived in Johnson City. We ate many a good steak there.

Was really disappointed. Went for wife's 50th birthday. We ordered 3 of the same steaks. All 3 medium well. All 3 came out different. Mine was very well done. Dark and tough all the way thru. Daughter's was correct. Wife's was not quite as done as mine. Topper was my daughter likes ranch dressing with her fries. Extra Rance was 4.75? Yeas. I even asked if it was correct, which it was. Manager came out and apologized for the steaks. He looked at the steaks and agreed, comped up 10%. Bill was still right at 70.00 before tip. Been there several times. It's actually been in business for 80 years. A few more days like today and they won't make 81.

I'm sorry to say that the Peerless Restaurant has really declined in quality and variety of steaks and seafood. When the founder, Jim Kalogeros was directly involved in the day to day business, the place truly had no peers in Johnson City.

A bit pricey but really good food. Cool atmosphere, almost like stepping into the past.

How much better can it get than O...M...G...!!! Without a doubt the absolute BEST food and service in the Tri-Cities, which should make the Peerless the absolute best restaurant in town.
