Absolutely amazing! Their queso is thick and flavorful, carnitas were to die for. Quick service and awesome daily specials. We will totally be back.Vegetarian options: PlentyParking: SpaciousDietary restrictions: I'm diabetic so I had plenty of options to choose from.

This is tough to write but it needs to be read I love supporting our local businesses and after several years of rarely seeing many vehicles in the parking lot of Retro Taco I made the mistake of asking my wife if she wanted to give it a try: The food was bland to the point where the chow my grandma gets at her assisted living facility is spicer. That, we could deal with, it was just bland. The reason I’m leaving this review is because since we ate at Retro Taco in Knoxville, last night, both my wife and I have had to remain in close proximity to a toilet because we both have the runs. Avoid this place like you would avoid a rabid dog. That’s really hard to say, I love LOCAL, but save your intestinal tract and avoid Retro Taco.

Worst place I've ever ate. The food was dripping grease when I picked it up. No napkins were given. The bathroom was nasty. Wasted money and time. They could of cared less if you liked it or not. I did complain about the grease and that was the worst food that I'd ever had. I actually threw up afterwards and I only had a few bites.

I had originally wanted a taco truck at my reception, but was unable to find one. I contacted Retro Taco and was so glad I did! I had eaten there a few times and realized they would do a great job catering to my reception of 50 guests. And they did. Micah came and set up and had everything ready just in time for us to eat. There was even some food left over which we ate later that night (of course) and then made chili with the rest. It was all perfect and delicious. It worked out well, was a valuable price and delicious. I think he confirmed a few new costumers that night!

Steak tacos are great. Quesadillas had a lot of cheese(as requested) and flavor. The carnitas burrito I got was good and had flavor. We liked the bean cheese burrito. The tortilla chips were nothing special. Wish there was some additional hot sauce and hot salsa options but that's about all we would complain about. We will definitely be back as we think this is one of the best Mexican restaurants in the local area.

Service was great, and the people here are super nice. Establishment is well kept, clean etc. Food is way too pricey. A medium salad with lettuce and a drizzle of chorizo was 9 bucks. Chips were perfect, but the salsa is bad. Seriously, just blend up some tomato paste, tomato chunks, and a jar of jalapeños. Super easy, and your profits will double.

Update:We came back today. We had the 2 for $24. My husband had some Retro tacos with tortillas and salsa with a soda, and I had the Baha burrito with tortillas and salsa with a soda. It also came with tortillas and Queso. The Queso was soooo delicious and addictive that we ordered another queso. The waitress put some Pico de Gallo on the Queso. This is the second time we came here and will be coming back for sure. The food was fresh both times and the service friendly. Just thinking about the Queso makes me want to go back tomorrow, lol...A month ago:It's Cali-Mex, not Tex-Mex or Mexican. Good food. Good prices. It has a bar and specials for each day of the week. Today was taco day. For 7.95 I had Retro Taco chicken, salsa and nachos and a soft drink. The chicken was a little on the dry side but good. The salsa was yummy. They had Pacifico on tap.

Their food is ok. It was my first and last time there though. Honestly, compared to Salsarita's, they are not even close.

The food was soooo very good! Good prices! Great service! We had the chicken Pico burrito, the steak chimichanga, and the fajita quesadilla and 4 different types of crunchy tacos on the side. Every bite of all of it was outstanding. A must stop and eat.

Had the carnita as well as the beef tacos. I'm from Texas so my standards are pretty high. I was pleasantly surprised. The pico de gallo and salsa were fresh and that's a big deal. I did miss the beans & rice that would have justified the price a bit. I'll go back

Best Cali-Mex I've had in a long time. Street food like it was served on the streets of Los Angeles. Pacifico on tap. We'll definitely be back.

Our party of four came in an hour before closing on Memorial Day weekend. Place was very clean albeit nearly empty. We asked if it was okay to order in with our drinks. No problem. Cali Mex style not to be confused with Mexican infusion food was delivered to table within minutes. Super friendly wait staff. Our plates were hot & fresh. Generous brands of hot sauce on tables. Would recommend.

I passed this restaurant on my way down Strawberry Plains for the first time, and thought it sounded interesting. On my way back, I decided to stop in and order their Jalapeño Brisket Quessadilla to-go. It sounded unique and I wanted to give it a try. It was worth it 100%. Best Quessadilla I've ever had. The Brisket was full of flavor, and the Mango Habanero sauce complimented it exquisitely! This is a place I plan on returning to in the future, and I highly recommend it to anyone in the area!

Well.... That was underwhelming. The food was severely under seasoned and bland. We ordered the food truck nachos, Baja burrito with chicken, and a buffalo chicken eggroll. After passing this place numerous times and reading good yelp reviews I decided to give it a try. I honestly think it is probably the most disappointing food I've had in quite a long time. The reason for two stars and not one are that the server was super nice, and the nachos came drowned in cheap yellow nacho cheese which gave me small fry baseball park nostalgia. But that's it. Not going back for seconds.

I was genuinely shocked to find these poor reviews about Retro Taco. I have been three times now, several months apart, and all three times was so pleased with my meal and the service. The fried cheese curds are good but the carnitas keep me coming back. I've had carnitas tacos and quesadillas and both are amazing. I also love that the lunch specials come with chips and salsa (and the salsa is sooo good!) I will definitely keep coming back. Lunch is always busy but the food comes out quickly.
