"Disappointed is an understatement. Visited on a Friday night only to find the place more than half empty, and sadly, our dining experience matched the ambiance. The ribeye steak was disappointingly fatty, the prime rib lacked any discernible taste, and even the chicken fell flat in flavor. A regretful waste of hard-earned money. It's no wonder this place seems destined for closure. Whatever happened to its former glory, it's a far cry from it now. Save your money and dine elsewhere."

We really enjoyed our meal here. Our local friends have been telling us this is the place to go. It's got a great ambiance, cabin and rustic feel. Cheerful and knowledgeable staff. And a great steak dinner.

My boyfriend ate at this place years ago and said that it used to be an amazing restaurant. He made plans to drive through Knoxville JUST to take us to this restaurant that he raved about. When we got there the parking lot was empty. That should have been the first red flag. We decided to give it a try anyway. I tried to order an alcoholic beverage and was told they didn't serve liquor or wine, only beer. That was a let down in itself however I take blame for not reading up on it before we went because the reviews clearly state they don't serve alcohol. We started off with salads, they tasted super salty (I think it was the balsamic dressing.) I ordered a filet and woodshed potatoes, he ordered a ribeye and broccoli casserole. When the food came out you could just tell they were NOT good cuts of meat. They looked like something out of western sizzlin. The steaks were completely seasonless and you could tell the sides were leftover and not fresh. The best thing on the table was the woodshed potatoes. Molleigh was our server and her service was great , that's the only reason we did not complain. She was great and the quality of the food had nothing to do with her. I would NOT recommend this place at all . The reviews are deceiving. When a parking lot is empty trust that there is a reason. The ambience is like real old timey like something from the 1940's.

Food and waiter were amazing! Food was fresh and delicious. Waiter was the best ! Only thing I would suggest is don’t eat upstairs. It was small and it wasn’t a great setting. It could just be us and our preference. It definitely wasn’t like the downstairs. I hate to even mention it but when you are spending that kind of money I would prefer a nicer setting. Either way we will be back but not upstairs.

Service was great. This was our go-to place for steaks and prime rib, until last night. The prime rib was tasty, but we had to saw through it, possibly because the knives were dull? The New York strip wasn't trimmed well. There were borders that were all gristle. My husband trimmed, but didn't bother to finish trimming, because it tasted 'off'. Our dog enjoyed the leftovers! The salads and sides used to be bigger. The prices went up, but the quality has gone down in this popular, longtime Knoxville restaurant. We may give it a couple of months and try again.

Where’s my teeshirt…????I ordered a 20oz prime rib which I typically do because I have a healthy appetite. I laughed when they delivered my plate because I thought it was a joke. It dwarfed every other 20oz ribeye I’ve ever seen. I assumed I would get a free teeshirt if I could eat it in less than an hour. Yea it was that big. The accompanying pictures don’t do it justice.I didn’t finish it but it was very flavorful and well cooked. My 18 yo son appreciated the portion I didn’t eat.Their wedge salad was just as impressive. I thought it was a giant slice of cake when they delivered it. The wedge was completely covered in blue cheese dressing topped off with a more than generous amount of fresh blue cheese crumbles. Sorry but I failed to get a pic of the salad.

We have ate here for years. This time was very disappointing. The prime ribwas 50 percent fat with no flover like it used to be. Expensive fat. Barley ate at it. The woodshed potatoes were not fully cooked except for the small pieces. The chopped steak had no flavor or no juice. I never had a chopped steak that dry. I only ate half of it. The green beans had no flavor and appeared to come come out of a Allen bean can plus it had a $2 up charge. According to our grandson his steak was good.

First time there!! Emma was fabulous. So VERY much enjoyed the sharp cheddar cheese and crackers before the meal. Hubby got prime rib and it was a very generous portion. He had a salad. Seriously -- the salad - appearance wise, it was nothing special but was good. I got the rib eye with HAND CUT FRIES (YES!! FABULOUS). Ate half and got another meal the next night. Split a brownie with ice cream for dessert. NO cherry or whipped cream to top it with. Bill came to just under $95. Think that was fair and was well worth the money. Will be back for more.
