Went to go try this place out for the 3rd time and each time they’ve been closed before posted closing hours. :(

Made the reservation for 7 people at 6p a day in advance yet our table wasn't ready - we waited 30mins to be seated. Menu items were only half stocked. Service was EXTREMELY slow (took an hr and a half to just order food and drinks), and two people still didn't have food by the time the rest of us were finished. Won't recommend and won't return.

Ordered ox tail for pick up online. I paid almost $30 just to get a plate of chicken that had so much bone I couldn’t even eat it. This was going to be my first time ever trying ox tail. I even called before I placed my order to make sure they had it, and they said yes! Super disappointed. Also the one tiny piece of plantain just made things worse. ?

I normally visit this establishment at least 2 to 3x's a month. Never have I had an issue. The food, service and atmosphere is always great. On this particular day (6-8-23) the service was horrible. My son and I made it right before a big a party. We were seated immediately. It took 20mins for our server (Darrin) to return to the table to take our order. As he was taking our order. I felt rushed as I was placeing our order. From that time on he didn't return to our table ever again.A guy that was sitting at the bar started helping him. He brought me the bar drinks and our waters. After I stopped him and asked about them another 20mins later. The food was awesome no complaints at all in that area. A different guy brought our food out and I asked for silverware. But after 5mins we still hadn't gotten any. So I had to get up and go to the bar to get plastic (to-go) forks and napkins.THE PART THAT GOT ME WAS THE 20% GRATUITY THAT WAS AUTOMATIC ADDED TO A PARTY OF TWO. Of all the times I've visited this establishment never has an automatic gratuity been applied to my check. The service sucked on this particular day and wasn't worth the 20% at all. I spoked to someone before I left about the gratuity and he said it's been that way since pandemic. I had to correct him b/c I've visited on several occasions since pandemic and never has an automatic gratuity been added to my check.I PAID THE GRATUITY. But I feel as if the service should be up to par before automatic adding 20% gratuity. It seemed that Darrin was really overwhelmed and busy with the party that came in after me. He could have used a few extra hands to help him out. There was noway he could give good service running the whole floor and the bar.

Service is terribly slow. There is a sign that says wait to be seated. The server walked past us and went into the office. We stood about 5 minutes, and he told us to sit anywhere. Took awhile to take our orders. Then we had to wait for food. We observed that he did other customers the same way. The food was good, but not enough for me to return for horrible service.

Service was okay. Servers definitely need help, & better communication with each other and patrons. Understandably, most Jamaican places source food locally and will run out of things, but no rice&peas, goat, red snapper, or oxtails! That's literally what I brought my family here for: the Jamaican staples. We just needed to be updated since it took over an hour for our food to be ready. We weren't just going to leave to wait another 1hr & a half somewhere else. Overpriced for quality & service given. I've had better. This was the only Jamaican spot open for dinner on a Sunday. Being around for 9yrs, this place should look & be 10x better than the experience my family and I received. If we ever come back, it will be takeout only.

Simply delicious. Had the stew chicken with rice and peas and cabbage. I will say I noticed the portion size is bigger for take out. I was also charged a 10% service fee on top of taxes. A bill went from $12 to $20+ in a heartbeat lolServer was great. The atmosphere is definitely uncomfortable if you've never been to a restaurant that has so much going on.

We waited about an hour to get a seat and it was well worth the wait. The chicken was crispy, hot, fresh, juicy, and flavorful. It had just enough kick to it. The mac n cheese and beans were also delicious. Our service was quick and friendly. Gus's is a must-try. I'd definitely make a trip back here.

Wonderful. We were a family of three, travelling through the USA as tourists. One of us a vegetarian, one with sensitive bowels. The place was very authentic and visited by locals. It was soberly furnished but colourful. The menu offered awesome dishes of genuine, fine tasting Jamaican food. The atmosphere was warm and friendly.

As soon as our feet crossed the threshold, we were greeted. It felt like we had come to an aunts place. Mary was the most informative and hospitable server. We ate slow, talked, laughed, and enjoyed! The lemonade was perfection. The beef patties were full of spicy flavor enveloped in a flaky pastry. The ox tails were tender and moist. It reminded me of a succulent roast packed with flavor. I had the pasta ot was packed with flavor and more than I could finish.

To-go pickupThe food was very flavorful and very tasty. However, every bite of my chicken curry had a bone in it, just be very careful eating this wonderful spiced dish.Pineapple slaw has a unique taste profile that keeps me coming back to kill the heat a tad. The meat pie and plantain are just the best.

So for my birthday I decided to try out a spot that I saw so many good reviews about and had to give it a try. The Rasta Pasta with shrimp was so delicious with a kick of spicy! I also ordered two Jamaican Rum punch! No I didn’t drink both! lol But you will need some stronger if you’re a real drinker! But my food was hot & fresh just how I love it! I will definitely try again in the future.

The bldg is older and really could use some updates to the chairs, tables, bar area, light fixtures, and fans but the staff is always super nice and welcoming. My son and I have eaten here twice, it's slow service but I'm understanding. It's not traditional Jamaican food as it's mixed with soul food touches. The oxtails are small and fatty both times I've had them, cabbage is more Southern style but its good, rice and peas are good as well. We ate beef patties while we waited for our food which are always hot and delicious. Music is nice. Drinks are reasonably priced and good.
