Lunch today was excellently prepared and served. The service is top-notch; you're greeted when you enter; there are smiles and pleasantries from the staff; and outstanding assistance. I ordered the Hamburger Steak with Gravy sitting a bed of rice, sweet potatoes, cabbage and cornbread. Everything was well seasoned and generously served. Whenever I'm in the neighborhood, my lunch money will be spent there!!!

Definitely recommend going out of your way to stop at JJ's Soul Food! The portions are super generous. Well worth the price. Honestly if they gave me half I would still highly recommend. My meal of roast beef fed me twice. Oh yes taco Tuesday tacos were a welcomed surprise. Staff was so friendly and patient as I wanted everything. This restaurant is a blessing!

Went to Memphis in October with a friend and we googled this spot in search of finding soul food. Almost missed it bc the building kinda blends in with the neighborhood. Bout the size of a house. I circled back and parked nearby. Lo and behold, it was like one big dining room and kitchen at your grandmas house haha. I liked that setup. The people there were so nice and when they found out that we were visiting from outta town, they looked out for us and gave us recommendations. Since I had to drive back home, I wanted to go light, but the portions they gave me said otherwise. And I wasn't disappointed. I got baked chicken, dressing, Mac n cheese and black eye peas. They had 4-5 different types of Kool Aid. It's so rare to get dressing before Thanksgiving so I couldn't pass up the opportunity. Everything was flavorful and filling. Even though it was a small establishment, they had walls of pictures and even a "Prayer Board" whiteboard that i was told that one of the owner's uses to pray for anyone who writes their name on it. It was a home type feel there.
