The food was okay… lacking in flavor. I’m a local in Memphis and you can find much better authentic Mexican food elsewhere. WAYYYY OVERPRICED! We paid $62 for lunch for two people.

The food is not worth the money, and the tacos are way too expensive. On top of it, the man working there is a psycho; see other reviews. I do not recommend this restaurant.

I got the tilapia tortas. For the price I expected a thicker cut of fish. It was very thin and, though pretty good, I could not taste the talapia.

Delicious and fresh food. The al pastor tacos are my favorite, but any of the sandwiches are also very good. They also have a wide variety of fruit slushies made with only real fruit. The mango drink and watermelon one are my favorites. This location is a nice addition to their original Germantown location, and they always have fast service.

We’ve been going for years, it’s the absolute best taco place in Tennessee, hands down.
I really wanted to like this place as it was recommended to me by a close friend, but after eating there three or four times, my conclusion is that the food is very bland/underwhelming for the price. To their credit, Las Tortugas is more authentic than a lot of other places in Memphis, but still falls short--it is a disappointingly white-washed and overpriced version of Mexican food. El pico de gallo no pica, the meat lacks seasoning/salt, and the aguas frescas are overwhelmingly sweet. If you want more affordable, Anglo-friendly Mexican food, check out Maciel's in Cooper Young. If you want real, authentic Mexican cooking with flavor, check out La Llamarada, La Guadalupana or many of the other local spots along Summer Ave, in Bartlett, etc. Remember: it's authentic if you see your local immigrant population spending their hard-earned dollars there. Las Tortugas unfortunately does not pass this test.

The owner was lovely and talked us through the menu, the food was amazing. The price is justified by the freshness of the ingredients and how delicious everything was. Definitely worth going!

Prices may seem high but you get substantial portions and even better...the tastes! I haven't found better in the Memphis area. Actually, I haven't found as good. Everything is freshly prepared when you order. It's not sitting on a steam table or under a warming lamp.

I've been holding back for some time but I'll let it out now. This place is the MOST overpriced and underwhelming deli I've ever been to in my life. 1 plate of 3 Tacos 2 tortas and 3 horchatas came up to $80+. The owner informed me that they didn't sell rice and beans because it was "poor people food." Like tacos aren't? Like a bollio with beans and lettuce isn't? Like Pico de Gallo and chips aren't? Asinine. And to top it off he has multiple posts up in the restaurant that show his hate for Californians and Texans. Maybe because we know real mexican food you fraud. Being a 1st generation Mexican American I know what real Mexican food is i grew up eating it. This isn't it. All of the people you see in there are american. There's a reason for that. A real Mexican wouldn't go in there more than once. Either because of the lack of quality, the exorbitant prices or the fact that I witnessed the owner treat fellow Mexicans with a completely different attitude. TL;DR if you're Californian,Texan, broke, or don't want to overpay don't eat here.
