First time experiencing this restaurant Food: nice portion sizes, great flavors and seasonings, but a tab bit on the salty side. The sweet plantains complements this dish. Service: was friendly and welcoming! Ambiance: clean, casual, family friendly and there's seating outdoors too! Parking available in the front and back of business. There's also a karaoke room set with a bar to hang out at.

Visited Memphis for a weekend and got lucky enough to eat here, wishing we had enough time to go again. The plantains were absolutely out of this world, my friend and I each had a different arepa that we loved, and the cafe con leche was perfect. Id you're gluten free, this is a great spot.

While visiting Memphis with my family, we came across Sabor Caribe for lunch. The food was amazing! So much so that we went back a second time on the last day of our trip. On our first visit I had 1 beef 1 pork patacones while my wife and son had the pabellon criollo. Both dishes were delicious! On our second visit we started with a chicken empanada, a chicken pastelito, and a tequeyoyo followed by pabellon criollo for all. If you're in the area, bring your appetite and stop by Sabor Caribe!

Shrimp arepa was amazing. Loved it with the cilantro sauce. Brunette arepa was ok. I thought it was too meaty. Seafood empanada had a strong fish flavor. Tequenos were good but tasted better with sauce. Unfortunately, they forgot our tres leches cake.

#LaGordita Chronicles
I ordered food from Sabor Caribe so I could share a little bit of Caribbean culture and food with my students and everything was very delicious! We are definitely going to take a field trip to Sabor Caribe in the new school year!—I have ordered food from Sabor Caribe several times but today was the first time I took my students to eat. We arrived at 11:45am when they were opening. We were the only people there, a group of 25 and they sat us in the back. They brought in the first courses very quickly, but when more customers entered the front part of the restaurant they stopped bringing us the food. By 1pm half of the students had still not received their food and they were still asking for drinks that never arrived. By 2pm of the 25 people 5 still had not received their food and we had to leave. The payment process was a mess because instead of serving the students, they served the other customers. When speaking with the manager he explained that it is better to make a reservation for a group of this size but from my point of view we arrived first and should have received our food first. It's not to say that the food is very good, just that we liked that they served us the food at the right time and not waiting more than 2 hours to end up taking the food to go.

I went in to patronize this business because I wanted to try something new. I walked in and wasn’t greeted or anything. The cashier literally looked at me with her head in her phone. She kept texting away. I grabbed a menu and she NEVER assisted me only continued to text. I put down my menu and left. She didn’t care at all. What ruined it was the terrible customer service experience before I even had a chance to try the food!

My partner and I stopped here on a Saturday evening this past weekend and loved it. We did a sampler appetizer and an entree and it was very fun! Will definitely come back to try other items as they are all very unique.
Best arepas I've had in memphis. The flavors are authentic and the platanos remind me of the kind my mom use to make. I am so happy my husband brought these home while I recovered from surgery.
