This guy is great he can cook well and he’s a guys guy. He brought out with a smile on his face in less than 5 minutes. This is the type of guy I would like to be my grandpa. This restaurant takes you out of 2024 in a busy Nashville and brings you back to a small growing city in the 40’s I love this place food was great and I will be returning soon!!!

Very welcoming and interesting history. Great breakfast at a reasonable price. My only regret is not having enough time to return for the chili.

As a New Yorker, I'm inclined to order my standard bacon, egg, and cheese. I couldn't get a kaiser roll here, so I got everything on a biscuit. I added a biscuit and gravy on the side. Everything was enjoyable. The cook doubles as the cash register guy so things take a little time.I'm swinging by later to try the fried chicken.

It’s a snow storm and this place was open. What a fine surprise for us.We got a good breakfast and super nice people that were glad to feed a traveler stranded in Nashville. Thank you!

I ordered a bacon, egg, and cheese biscuit, a biscuit with gravy, and a side of hasbrowns for just over $10! The food was delicious and the employees were very kind! If I lived in Nashville I would definitely frequent this place? My favorite item was definitely the BEC (it is a must order).

In a town full of fancy options, I love finding where the locals eat. Sometimes a delcious basic breakfast is all the soul needs. I had a really good cheese and sausage omelet, hasbrowns and biscuits. I'll be back!

wow. this place is amazing. it has a very old fashioned but homey atmosphere, and service was very friendly and welcoming. food is served in styrofoam and plastic utensils, but dang is it good. we ordered chile with tamale, egg biscuit, pancakes, and a bec (bacon egg cheese) biscuit. prices are different(more expensive) than as stated on the online menu, but still fairly cheap prices.chile- and tamale- were awesome. tasted authentic. if you’re going to come here , you should definitely try the chili. you won’t be disappointed.would give egg biscuit four stars, it tasted good, but it was pretty small for the price we paid.bec biscuit is pretty much the same, my sister thought that the way that the bacon and egg were cooked was perfect, but the biscuit was very crumbly and “fell apart too easily”pancakes were average diner pancakes, nothing super special but they were good pancakes, they were soft and didn’t even need syrup, they were already sweet enough.overall I’d give Varello’s 5 stars, i will definitely visit again for the chile!

Love the fact that it has history and it's displayed on every wall. Did not like the fact that I was the only person of color (besides the cook) in the entire place, including every picture. Watched the owner speak pleasantly and even carry on conversations with other and deliver their food, but it took so long to even take my other that the cook asked what I was getting from the kitchen. Simple bacon, egg, and cheese wrap ($7). I went and had a seat. When my number was called, I had to go get my food from the owner that still hasn't spoken to me except to collect my money and walked away before finishing the transaction without a word. I'm hoping that what I experienced was a bad day/bad moment for him but I got a feeling this was not unconscious bias. Oh, and the food was fine. Nothing really bad or spectacular for a bec wrap.
