“Hard to find an authentic Japanese restaurant here in East Tennessee. I ate in a lot of really good authentic Japanese restaurants in the Philippines and what we have here in East Tennessee are not close to those I had. Anyway, i gave up finding really good Japanese resto here. Now, with Kume, food are reasonably priced. Kinda hit and miss though on the food. Tofu was so good: crispy outside and soft inside. Gyoza is very good: subtle garlicky taste. Squid seaweed salad was amazing: you could very well taste the roasted sesame and the dressing blended well the ingredients. Shrimp in the hibachi is overcooked. Soup is like a bullion, so yucky. Restaurant is not well-lit. Sayce in the Hibachi are too sweet for my taste. Female Bathroom not that clean; but men’s bathroom is clean, per my hubby.“
“They participated in the vegan chef challenge in March 2024 and I very much appreciated their efforts. I look forward to their vegan offerings going forward. Service was very attentive and very friendly! The environment feels good--clean. I was there during the day. I'd like to see what it's like in the evenings.“
“Mikata is wonderful! Definitely some of the best sushi I've ever had. Everything tasted fresh and delicious. I had raw salmon in both a sushi roll and Nigiri, it was perfect. You can tell they use good fish. This was my first time trying Takoyaki, so I don't have anything to compare it to but, it was amazing. ?“
“Delicious hibachi, huge portions, quick service, & friendly staff (the manager Jeffery is awesome!). They reopened after a major renovation & the dining room is very clean & well kept. We love Fuji!Kid-friendliness: The friendliest & sweetest staff!“
“It was an amazing experience from taking off our shoes and sitting at the table, to having unagi and most of all a lot of real Japanese food options. This place is definitely a hidden gem. BTW! The curry was really good! My husband and I shared it and man, I wanted to order another plate. Having lived in the west coast my whole life where there’s so many Japanese restaurants and people of decent, this one hits the spot. I’ve been having a hard time finding a place that isn’t sushi and Thai, which are completely opposite ends of Asia where the food is not even similar. Thank you for the experience and food!“
“First time trying Kabuki and we will be back! The best sashimi we have had so far here in Knoxville and we've been everywhere! Everything from the saki to the donuts were amazing! Highly suggest the shrimp tempura, the filet hibachi, the sashimi plate, and the donuts.“
“Maybe they are overworked/understaffed, but the staff just take their time coming around sometimes. Improvement can definitely be made, but not a reason to avoid. The food is amazing though. Their teriyaki hibachi is delicious and flavorful. The sushi is fresh and tasty. Even the wasabi is fresher than most sushi places around.“
