Excellent food and service. But they allow smoking in there. So if that bothers you, best avoid.

An unbridled meh would describe the Dixie Maid. Took a chance since it had been open so long, the food must be good... It was just "ok" food that was insanely overpriced. Good enough to get buy, but bad enough to tell others to look for a different place even in a pinch. The heavy smoke filled atmosphere is blown around with a box fan and smells like a truckers beard.Service was the highlight. The waitress was nice enough to set down her cigarette before walking the food to our table.

Prompt and courteous service. This seems to be one of those great places where everyone knows everyone and they welcome newcomers.Bacon was thick and crispy, really liked the biscuits, but those home fries were perfection.Caution, this cafe still allows indoor smoking although it was not overly strong when we were there (mid-morning on a Monday).

The owners are friendly and love to chat with ya. Service was fast, helpful in making recommendations. Cute small Cafe nothing much appealing on the interior or exterior but these are the hidden gems that make the town and that foodies looking for authentic local dishes crave. I had the biscuits and gravy and these biscuits were fluffy and crunchy tastiest I've ever had. The gravy needed to be a bit more peppery for my liking but there was pepper on the table to add so I was a happy camper the server was also super friendly quick attentive conversational and made really good recommendations. Brother In Law had the smothered covered hashbrown plate that was crunchy and soft and raved about the biscuits as well. The slice cheese on top wasn't too appealing but you know felt like home with the platting atmosphere and attentiveness. Would come back for that alone and the biscuits lolParking: Some paved some gravel plenty of parking easy to get in and out of trafficWheelchair accessibility: Park on the paved if possible know gravel is hard on the skinny wheels plenty of space to sit with a wheel chair and as nice as the folks are I know for a fact they would go out of their way to accomodate. Raised right.

Breakfast was hot, cooked to order and awesome.Service was exceptional.Other diners are friendly.Coffee was not good… it’s the water they use.Oldest diner in Springfield and it shows. Atmosphere is not good. Smoking is allowed and it smells like it.So how to rate this place? I guess 3 stars.

The best hidden gem in Springfield. A good place to find a paper and a friend. The friendliest folks this side of the Mason-Dixon. Excellent food made to order.

Not many tables. It's strictly for adults 21+ because it IS NOT a SMOKE-FREE establishment. Food was delicious!

I'm glad I read a review. Now I will never step in here. Ironically of course it was a great review because the person was a smoker. If you want to smoke, don't poison the air for someone else. Smoking areas don't cut it.

They say the burgers are good here but I didn’t get that. I spent 18 dollars for a pork chop breakfast plate. I got gravy on my potatoes, they tasted weird. Like they had been soaking in soapy water or something, just weird. They grilled my biscuit because I asked for butter on it. It was okay but you could taste the burger grease which was also weird haha. The pork chop was already white when they put it on the grill. I could only guess that it had been long frozen and then left to soak in water before being cooked? I’m trying imagine how you could make a pork chop taste like that. It was very old and not good tasting. If you go here try their burgers because the other random items might be old and long marinated in cigarette smoke. Worst dine in meal I’ve had since I tried the Waffle House Ribeye that fateful night long ago.

We were traveling through Springfield looking for a good country breakfast…and on the 4th of July that was no easy task since most all local places are closed. We pulled in about to go in and were informed they had already closed early for the holiday. Saddened we asked how far it was to the Waffle House and the precious lady said she was not letting us go to the Waffle House and she would gladly serve us. It was so appreciated! Everything was wonderful from the food to the service to the conversations with the many regulars that were still there when we walked in…could not have been better! We felt very welcome and will definitely go back and try lunch, I hear the burgers are delicious!

Three for the food. It might even rate a four. Two for service because the server sat at the bar smoking. That isn't acceptable anywhere in 2023. That is why the atmosphere got only a one. This place could easily be a hidden gem, but it doesn't make the grade at all.

We had a breakfast and a patty melt. Both were good. However, after we were served the server sat at the end of the bar smoking!! We went to the restroom, which has "Outhouse" on the door. It wasn't horrible, but small and certainly not up to code. We won't be back. Would you believe we found this place on a Garmin GPS unit?
