Was looking for a Mexican place to eat around town and saw that this place was nearby so I decided to pop in. I instantly felt a homely vibe and was greeted by the friendly waitress. They sell quite the specialty items, many of them regional to southern Mexico. Would recommend the tepache.

This was our first time at Los Magueyitos. We arrived about 3pm. There were people waiting to pickup to go orders but no one eating in. Not really a surprise since we were there at an odd time of day. In trying to be fair, we are more accustomed to food with a TexMex flair which this is definitely not. The menu is primarily in spanish. I know just enough to be able to order a carnita taco plate. My husband ordered the same. The water we ordered was plentiful but came with no ice and was room temperature. Our daugher ordered coffee. It came with a cup of hot water, instant coffee, a container of actual cream, and a sugar bowl. Eventually we received one piping hot carnita taco plate. The meat was not at all what we expected. It was more like finely chopped beef, not hamburger but not pork shoulder either as we are used to for carnitas. The flavor was flat and the texture was chewy. We actually were not sure what kind of meat it was. The tortillas were homemade, but thin and a bit dry. The beans were a little runny with little flavor. The rice was good and my favorite part of the dish. She did bring a bowl of fresh chopped cilantro and white onions as well as both red and green sauces. The red sauce had a smoky flavor and was the hotest. The green was less spicy and had a good flavor. My husbands plate never showed up. When asked, she thought we only ordered one, not two plates. It worked out fine because by that time we were sharing my plate and decided we would not care for a second order. There may be other items on the menu we would have liked, but we won't be back to try again. I think the restaurant, or versions of it, have been in this locatoin a long time, so they must have a following. It just wasn't what we wanted. A side note..... no sign of toilet paper in the bathroom. Only a roll of paper towels and a sign that I think said not to put paper in the toilet. Not a huge deal, but if you are expecting TP... bring your own. Just don't flush it. LOL :)

Over price !!! The food taste like used oil . the food dishes ? are very exaggerated that cannot be enjoyed like the Cuban torta even comes with an egg ? if you really want to enjoy a real Mexican food go to taco pionero close to this area !! Never go back

It has good flavor, but not one of the best Mexican places for my taste. They make the food way different than any typical Mexican restaurant. I don't like mixing my meat with fruit and usually the tompro has pineapple but not many restaurants puts pineapple, this restaurant dose so if you like that then is a great place for you. I personally will not be back as soon as was hoping too. ? unfortunately tacos are not one of the best choices to get at this restaurant, Also not as an affordable place to visit 4 kisds and and 6 adults $230.00.

Great food and nice place but the only thing wrong is the restaurant hours they close at 10pm not at 11pm and they stop the dine in at 9:30 they take only to go orders ..we learn that today ?
