Restaurarant had a foul smell when I walked in. Should have taken it as a sign & walked out but due to good reviews, I decided to stay. My hubbie's burger was over cooked & dry. My VLT had such a paper thin eggplant, it was not edible since once again it was over cooked, UGH! Mind you, I was SO hungry but even hunger could not disguise the flavor of this food. No idea how this establishment had the ratings it does. Do yourself a favor walk in, sniff & walk out!

I came to Austin for a conference. I wanted a quiet meal, so I stopped by Caroline’s as I saw plenty of open tables.Since I was a party of one, the only place the hostess would allow me to sit was at the bar. I am in active recovery, as many people are. I shouldn’t have to sit at a bar to enjoy a meal at your establishment. I understand the loss of tips or revenue for accommodating a party of 1, but clearly the only thing you care about is that and not the person.

Caroline resurrected us. This place is AMAZING. The miso salmon was sublime and the strawberry shortcake was fresh, refreshing, and delightful. I also had great company so that made for an excellent experience :)Also of note was the delicious short rib - the cauliflower grits were a nice surprise, and the short rib was tender and well cooked. Perhaps the best part of the meal was the butter cake for dessert! Will definitely be thinking of that dessert for a long time to come.

Yikes.. I just went here for my 30th birthday and the food was horrible. I don’t know how a kitchen can mess up a burger, fries and a steak caesar salad. The steak for the salad was way overdone and very dry (I asked for medium), the croutons were burnt and there was hardly any dressing on it. It was essentially an arugula, plain salad. The burger was also overdone and was comparable to a burger you buy at the grocery store and cook on the stove. The fries were soggy and so over salted we couldn’t eat them.In addition to that, I asked if we could have the salad split onto two plates and the server said the kitchen doesn’t like when they make modifications to orders… That is wild to me. The kitchen is not the one paying for the meal. I’ve worked at a bar restaurant and a nice restaurant in the past and never would we have told a customer no in that scenario.We didn’t eat much of our food and the server never asked how it was. As a previous server, if I saw a table didn’t eat their food when asking for the check, I absolutely would have asked and tried to comp the meal.Genuinely, this place has made me not trust customer reviews. This was the worst food I’ve had in a long time and it’s extremely disappointing this was my 30th birthday dinner. I wouldn’t recommend to anyone.

Cute place and good vibes. Patio was lovely with great people watching. Ordered the spicy deviled eggs✅, the heirloom tomatoes, street corn dip, and huevos rancheros. For beverages had the marshmallow latte✅, espresso martini ✅, and the three orange mimosa.The winners were the deviled eggs and the marshmallow latte. The eggs were not spicy but delicious nonetheless the less. The huevos rancheros was good, as were the other drinks. The heirloom tomatoes straight up bad. They weren’t ripe and didn’t come with basil as listed. I asked and our server grabbed some, but they were just not good.I thought the street corn dip lacked flavor but my partner liked it. I used the chips for the huevos rancheros so it worked out.Our service was fine, a little slow (it wasn’t all that busy) and there were a number of times he went to grab things and forgot on his next visit, but we were in no rush.Vegetarian options: Deviled eggs were great!
I think it was probably the most disappointing experience for me in Austin. Very few vegetarian option. To make it worse, the vegetarian salad I ordered actually contained chicken, which the staff failed to acknowledge despite being informed.

I ordered chicken and waffles. The waffles were way too hard, potentially overcooked, and came with one tiny piece of fried chicken. The chicken was room temperature but very tasty. My partner bought the eggs+sausage+toast menu item. The sausage came out cold.The service was poor. I had to ask for utensils & they waited a very long time to check in on us.Upstairs seemed like a happening place. However, the only bathroom for the two floors was on the second floor.All-in-all, the restaurant was nothing special and I can find many more negatives than positives for it. I find it hard to believe it deserves the 4.8 stars it has at the time of writing.
