I love China cafe . I especially love the Shirley Temple! Worth every dollar-- makes my kid happy. Came in a huggggeee foam cup: the amazement factor of the giant cup was what made me write the review. If they wanted to up their game they could add a few actual maraschino cherries instead of just the sauce. We would have loved it even more. The giant cup will keep me coming back. Our favorite here is the beef broccoli. It lasts many days. The plain fried rice also a great add. I think some of their sesame fried chicken etc could be just a bit crispier so it's not mushy. The egg rolls and dumplings were a hit for us - eat in , but I don't know how they tasted ordering. I also love eating at the restaurant. It actually has a great ambiance . No they didn't pay me to write this, I just miss my San Francisco Chinese restaurant and this is close as I came to darn decent Chinese food in this town .

Always great. Lunch specials are always a good choice before 3:00. Highly recommend.

Wow! This has been the absolute worst Chinese food I’ve ever eaten, or as in this instance TRY to eat. It has absolutely no flavor whatsoever and it tastes, like what I would imagine old and moldy wet socks must taste like. I ordered the cashew chicken, combination fried rice, sweet and sour soup and egg rolls. Upon looking at the food initially, you think that it’ll be delicious based on the look. It looks nice and fresh and has the nice color that you’d expect from Chinese food, but the second you take a bite you are nothing but shocked because you can’t decipher what you’re even eating. I took 2 bites of my food, 1 bite of the egg roll, and 1 spoonful of soup and that was enough to make me throw the entire thing in the garbage. Not even adding soy sauce, duck sauce or mustard was enough to salvage. It’s been 15 minutes since trying the food and I am left with a horrible taste in my mouth and $45 less in my pocket. I am sorry to be so blunt and hate having to write this but I really hope that whoever is in charge in this place, can see this and ensure that someone else doesn’t have this kind of experience.

A proper hidden gem. A Chinese food restaurant must be, big portions, cheap, and filled with flavor. An ugly delicious factor must be present, all embodied in china cafe. Maybe it's the location, maybe it's the basic name that would disuade you from stopping by, but it's a matter of time that this gem is found. We start off with the clean, classic yet modern and cozy ambiance throughout. Excellent, attentive, and polite service, truly a 5 star staff. Now to the most important part. The food, we started off with the crab puffs, creamy delicious filling. The roasted duck was beyond any other duck I've had in Austin, juicy, yet crispy filled with flavor. Lastly we had the 7 wonders, a dish for 2, can't record this enough. At 30 dollars it feeds 2 more than enough with leftovers to take home. Scallops, tempura shrimp, tender steak, juicy chicken crisp veggies and so much more!! Ate here couple hours ago and can't stop thinking about it. I look forward to trying much more on the menu, and strongly suggest anyone to stop by and do the same.
