Donn’s Depot is a long time Austin classic, but there’s so much more beyond the name. This place has a bar, dancing, and seating throughout. It looks much bigger on the inside and it does from the outside. This place caters to all with patrons both young and old. This place reminds me a little of another Austin classic, the Broken Spoke. The lighting is a little dim and red and you can tell this place has been around a long time just by looking at the ceiling, walls and decor. They play live music which is always a huge plus! There’s a big bar with a variety of draft beers, wine, spirits and cocktails. The layout is a a bit funky with seating in different rooms, some with a limited view of the dance floor. The staff is mostly friendly, which was a surprise as I expected them to be over the top friendly. Regardless, they’re probably understaffed and there’s a lot of picking up to do at the tables and with customers. I really need to visit around the holiday season, when they light the place up with Christmas lights. Overall a cool place and I’ll be back!

Incredible bar. It somehow combines the dancefloor and honky-tonk vibes of many South Austin bars, with the dive bar style of North Austin. The drinks are very reasonably priced, and the location with a view of downtown Austin is incredible. They have a cover, but the live music and dance floor are both top notch for Austin. There's also a quieter seating area if you want to chat with guests.

My wife and I loved Don’s depot. We were impressed by the eclectic crowd this place draws. We sat by another couple who had been married 68 years! The dance floor was hopping. And we had a great evening. We can’t wait to go back.

For Christmas bars, this is a diamond in the rough. It's not as glamorous as Miracle on 5th, but it's really cozy, less expensive to enter, and the drinks are good. Their drinks were creative and all tasted great.

Felt like we has stepped back into time here. Atmosphere was weirdly cool in a retro way but there was no music which felt odd. Bartender was very friendly and prices were great.

First off- the food. Delicious day made popcorn. Goes with everything. Second off- the drinks. Crazy cheap old school, like they are completely unaware what the boojie places have done. Third off- the staff. This is Cheers, folks. In Austin. In some train cars jammed together. Awesomeness. Fourth off- the regulars. Late night dancing for all ages, some dance lessons, so youngsters can learn and hang with the well seasoned folk. Fifth off- you can actually park here. Back when I was semi important, I took all my meetings here. I'm not a regular but it's as close to my neighborhood bar as I get. I hope it stays just like it is forever.
