The Moules Frites was great. Everything else was just OK. Nothing stood out and not worth the price. They were also really skimpy on the bread for the steak tar tar and other items that require bread.

I really love the casual but slightly upscale vibe to this restaurant and pub. I've been in for coffee, brunch, drinks and a late night bite when nothing else great is open in the neighborhood. The food is French and pub fare, all of it quite delicious. I highly recommend the French onion soup, the cheese plate and pretty much everything on the brunch menu. You often have to order at the bar, and the servers are not super attentive, but it is not terrible. The eclectic decor is quite unique, and each room has a different feel. You can choose to sit in the more crowded bar area or have a quieter place in one of the lovely rooms behind it. There is also outdoor seating which I've enjoyed on a day with nice weather.

A rip off. Service was horrible. Mains arrived BEFORE the appetizers even though we ordered appetizers a half hour before we ordered the main dishes. Then the ratatouille main dish arrived tepid. We asked if they could warm it up and they said they don't have a microwave. They will have to make another one. The other one never came. Then we were charged for two of them. It took 40 minutes to get the second bottle of wine by which time we were done eating. You don't expect this horrible experience for $100 a person. I thought this was a special place to take my friends from out of town, but it was a disaster. a required 25% gratuity. Main dishes that arrive spaced out over 30 minutes.

Best steak frites I've had in a long time! House-made fries done right is a rarity. Oddly enough, the green salad was also a standout. It is a traditional vinaigrette that clings to whole Bibb lettuce leaves that you eat with knife and fork. Very French. I also really like the layout of the restaurant. Having a lot of small spaces rather than one large dining room makes for a more intimate experience. The food was a little slow to come out, but it did arrive hot, not like it had been sitting around. I should really knock off a star for this, but the overall experience was so good that I'm giving them the benefit of the doubt on this one.

Amazing experience visiting Austin and going to Hopfields. I spent over 30 min trying to find the perfect restaurant for my mood which included craft cocktails (single cube a must), creative food, and a good atmosphere. The service was friendly and attentive from the moment I walked in, and the other guests were also kind and welcoming. They ran out of the duck wings I wanted but the chef offered to make me something special with duck which was absolutely amazing. I also splurged on the oysters and they were so good...I live in Seattle so I feel spoiled with oysters but these were above par in comparison. The bartenders are mixologists and know what they're doing. It's really a calming and nice atmosphere with good music at the perfect volume and great for sitting at the bar or having a group.Well done and thank you for the experience!

Decent wine list. The wine turned out to be the best part of the meal. I went with the French basics: French Onion soup and Beef Bourgogne. The onion soup was OK- many places in town are much better (III Forks). Before I was half-finished with the soup, the entree arrived. This should never occur at a French restaurant. The meat was warm (not hot) and the carrots were COLD. The sauce was bland. The meat had too much fat. The servers were all young and didn't seem to care- no enthusiasm. Will not be back.

Long time patron , looks like they randomly have taken the veggie burger off the menu without updating the menu online. Last time i was there made a special trip and looked online before going. The veggie burger was one of the items that brough us there with the great beer, please bring it back it was one of the best in Austin.

We have never had a bad experience at this little restaurant. We took my mom for lunch and sat in the back room which, although lacking in ambience , was very quiet and perfect for her. We had hamburgers and steak frites , and all were delicious.

Started with beets and they were delicious , then the French onion soup that had a great flavor. Might have wanted a slightly bigger serving for $18 but it is very well done. I hadn't been here in a very long time but really enjoy the relaxed vibe and it's quiet enough to enjoy conversation. Service was on point as well!

I can't say enough good things about Hopfields. It has been the go-to restaurant that I take people visiting from out of town for years. The menu is constantly changing, but consistently excellent. The beer selection is vast and also regularly changing. I'm not much of a drinker of hard liquor, but a member of my party last night was very happy with her cocktails as well.

Good ambience but poorly executed and overpriced food. The salad was really hard to eat, $18 French onion soup was very underwhelming, and my friend's order of mussels looked unappetizing. They came in a giant bowl with fries on top, I watched as they struggled to not make it into a soupy mess of mussels, fries and aoli.

Been coming to Hopfields for the past 12 years (since its opening) and it never disappoints. Great wine and beer selection, lovely atmosphere and delicious food.

Incredible food! Atmosphere is a bit more like a typical brewpub. I don’t drink alcohol so I ordered espresso- I’d wanted to enjoy it with my crème brûlée, that sweet-bitter combination is so nice.I had to ask for my espresso three more times after ordering the two together and only ended up getting it nearly 20 minutes later.I cannot remember when I last had less attentive service. It was not especially busy, I ordered at the bar.

Funky place to go if you really want good beer or a well made cocktail. Food has a French or Belgian prominence. I wish they offered a smaller portion of mussels as an appetizer.
