When you enter, you are apparently to know to approach a window to place an order-even if there is no one in sight. A line started to form behind me so I reluctantly rang the bell and a grouchy rude guy stomped over, said, “here or to go” and put on some gloves and put together my order. Then, you are to pick out your drink from a couple of bins with ice in them and proceed to the cashier to pay. She was the only thing nice about this place. As for the food, the creamed corn was good, but the pulled pork was dry, and yes I added sauce, but you can still tell that it was too dry. This place was close to my hotel and I wanted to be sure to try BBQ in Austin. It’s better at Jethro’s in Iowa. I tried to go to Terry Black’s, but it was too busy. I hope the folks in the hour+ long line enjoyed the food more than I did at IWB. Sigh. I do not recommend.

The barbecue was very dry and super disappointing. We were hungry so we ate everything but what a disappointment, this was our one chance to try Texas bbq and now we are leaving tomorrow :( Don’t know what’s up with this place, the reviews were misleading!

The pulled pork was fine, but the brisket was just ok. It as tasty and tender as others. For Texas BBQ, brisket has to be better than this. Coleslaw wax very sweet. Beans were quite good.

The best beef ribs I've ever had. The bbq sauce is good but the ribs were so good I couldn't put sauce on them. My wife had the pork ribs and they were good also but the beef ribs were exceptional.

My family’s been here 5 generations and this is the ONLY place we will buy BBQ when not smoking it at home ourselves. Also best BBQ sauce on earth. Tried Franklin’s and seems to have tried to copy his from Iron Works. But Franklin is from Bryan (Aggies) Iron Works is pure Longhorns! Nobody beats Iron Works for 100% authentic Texas barbecue.

Great food and quick. Large portions. Staff was helpful. The food was a bit over priced and the banana pudding was ok and in a small portioned container.

The brisket was dry and the BBQ baked beans did not taste at all like BBQ baked beans - it tasted like unseasoned pinto beans. The macaroni and cheese was okay.

This BBQ was kinda ok… that’s the best I can describe it. Definitely not what I wanted to spend $70 on… the sausage tasted like it had sat out for

Iron Works BBQ is a historic landmark 110 years strong (45 years as a BBQ spot)- with lines out the door. I came in to see if they had anything for a vegetarian but unfortunately there was nothing on the menu that I could have. (I am aware of how hilarious that premise sounds but places like this are so nostalgic to me, even though I don’t eat meat). I ended up buying BBQ sauce and seasoning to bring back for my Chicago fam and took some photos of this charming, one of a kind spot.
