This is the second time Ive been ordered to pickup from Maudie's Cafe, in the Last 2 weeks, and both of my experiences were horrible. The first time, I called 3 times to place an order because the website wasn't giving me an options for how I wanted to customize my meal. Every time I called, I was put on "hold" (I say this in parentheses because I could hear everything they were saying, laughing, talking,ect) and was on hold for at least 5 mins, each time I called(which was 3 times). I then decided to order online and received this MESS of a "Stuffed avocado" and it was a MESS (we added chips to it because it was completely uneatable without it). Today was the SECOND time ordering for pickup, I finally got someone on the phone. I asked SPECIFICALLY for plastic wear for both meals, but the hostess or whoever was taking my order was rushing me and every time I asked something she quickly cut me off. At the checkout/pickup window, the hostess/or whatever, was incredibly rude. When I was picking up my order, I noticed a bee in front of the window and proceeded to warn her. She quickly dismissed what I was saying and ,very unwelcoming and dismissively, asked what my name was for the order. Mind you, on the phone she didn't ask for my name, so I told her she didn't ask for a name and proceeded to tell her my order, she cut me off again and said my name, saying she got my name from the caller ID. At the end of the transaction, I took my items but I felt very shitty. Very much like I didn't belong there l. Most of the costumers were white, even though this was a TexMex restaurant. There was nobody I could relate to or didn't look like me (black, hijabi). Idk if this had anything to do with it or if this place just has shitty service. But if you're a POC, just a little FYI.

I ordered chicken fajitas and the chicken was good but the peppers were very spicy later found out they have Serranos inside. There wasn’t a cautionary note about spice which was upsetting. Flan was spongy and had holes. Overall not worth it.

I try to get breakfast it was South by Southwest last weekend I drove by I thought it'd be packed it was half full one around 10:30 a.m. I get settled within 30 seconds I get salsa and chips within 30 seconds by the girl and I watch two waitresses and a fat slob waiter walked by me two time over the next 15 minutes all of brown color and I am white and if it was reversed they will be yelling racism

Terrible experience. Received very racist treatment from the moment I stepped on Maudie’s property. Maria the manger was so rude to me and my group and we decided to leave . Never go to the west 7th location .

Wish I could give them a better review - or that I didn't have to post this public review. But this is the review they've earned over multiple failures in their take away order service.The food is pretty good for what it is. It's not fancy, just basic tex mex.However, when you order online and come to get it - you might want to check Every. Single. Thing. in your order to confirm it is correct. Because we had 4 orders in a row with take away failures - missing items, wrong items. wrong ingredients.It's amazing how poorly their take away operation works. Even when these issues are brought to their attention, there is no response and no change for improvement. Shame on you Maudie's. Your poor service means many others will seek different options and at some point your bad service will come back to get you. There are a lot of great alternatives with as good or better food, but more importantly, service without failures.A final comment: I didn't want to post a public review like this. I originally sent a private email to their customer line. It's been weeks without a reply, so as I started this review - I wish I didn't have to post it. Therefore when Maudie's replies publicly with a "contact us privately to address the issue", know that I /did/ do that first and there was No response.
